Marcio Amoroso said he cannot wait to play "with so many great players" after completing his free transfer from São Paulo FC to AC Milan this morning.

Saturday unveiling
The 31-year-old Brazilian arrived in Italy yesterday for a medical and to tie up the loose ends on an 18-month contract. He could make his debut on Sunday as the Rossoneri travel to AS Roma, although coach Carlo Ancelotti may prefer to give him time to settle.

Top marksman
Amoroso impressed in a previous spell in Italy, ending the 1998/99 season as Serie A's leading scorer having struck 22 goals in 33 games for Udinese Calcio, whom he subsequently left for Parma FC and then Dortmund in a €25.35m deal. While at the Westfalenstadion, the Brazilian hit a hat-trick as the German side eliminated Milan from the UEFA Cup semi-finals in 2002.

'Many friends'
"I'm very happy to be back in Italy after five years as I left many friends here," Amoroso said. "I hope to be as successful with Milan as I was with São Paulo." Having recently won the Copa Libertadores and FIFA Club World Championship with the Brazilian team, Amoroso is now targeting Serie A glory even though Milan are nine points behind Juventus.

Competition
"Anything is possible in football and I think we can still catch them - at least we will try to do so until the very end of the season," added Amoroso, who knows he faces stiff competition for a starting berth at San Siro with Andriy Shevchenko, Alberto Gilardino and Filippo Inzaghi such accomplished performers. "I don't know if I'll play on a regular basis but I just hope to play well when I get the opportunity," he concluded.

Shevchenko, Vieri, Inzaghi, Gilardino - how many more do they want?!
