NFC 23 AFC 17

"BBC Sport"

Linebacker Derrick Brooks returned an interception 59 yards for a touchdown as the NFC beat the AFC in the season-ending Pro Bowl in Hawaii.
The Tampa Bay star, playing in his ninth Pro Bowl, crossed in the third quarter to put the NFC 17-10 ahead.

The AFC levelled the scores early in the final quarter through Trent Green's one-yard quarterback sneak.

But the NFC sealed victory when Arizona's Neil Rackers kicked two field goals, the second coming late on.

The AFC took a 7-0 first-quarter lead when Chris Chambers took a 16-yard touchdown pass from Indianapolis quarterback Peyton Manning.

The sides swapped field goals in the second quarter before the NFC made it 10-10 when Michael Vick threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Atlanta team-mate Alge Crumpler.

The end-of-season extravaganza in Honolulu pitches together the two National Football League Conferences.

Played in a relaxed atmosphere, the Pro Bowl normally sees a show of offensive play but on Sunday it was the defences that dominated as both sides made a host of errors.

It was the lowest-scoring Pro Bowl since the AFC won 23-10 in 1999.

The AFC is regarded as the stronger conference and have won four of the last six Pro Bowls.

AFC teams have won five of the last six Super Bowls, the latest coming on 5 February when Pittsburgh beat the NFC's Seattle in Detroit.
