France squad released today , im trying to look for the squad list but i cant find it but what ive learned from an article on FIFA World Cup site is:

Ribery
Chimbonda

Henry
Saha
Treze
Zidane
Barthez - 1st choice
Coupet

but im sure the rest of the regulars are in aswell.

On a sad note , he's left out Giuly and Pires :(

I like the additions of Ribery and Chimbonda , they are both good players and will surely do well for France. Barthez being picked 1st choice isnt good though , he hasnt been himself lately , losing his touch while Coupet has done great in goal for France. Well good luck to Barthez , hopefully Bruno Martini gives him all the training he needs , because we're gonna need quality from him at the WC.
For anyone who doesnt know Bruno , he's France's goalkeeping coach.

EDIT - found , thanks to www.fff.fr < France's official website:
Quote:

France (10) : Eric Abidal (Lyon), Fabien Barthez (Marseille), Grégory Coupet (Lyon), Vikash Dhorasoo (Paris SG), Alou Diarra (Lens) Gaël Givet (Monaco), Mickaël Landreau (Nantes), Florent Malouda (Lyon), Franck Ribéry (Marseille), Sylvain Wiltord (Lyon).

Angleterre (8) : Jean-Alain Boumsong (Newcastle), Pascal Chimbonda (Wigan), Djibril Cissé (Liverpool), William Gallas (Chelsea), Thierry Henry (Arsenal), Claude Makelele (Chelsea), Louis Saha (Manchester United), Mikaël Silvestre (Manchester United).

Italie (3) : Lilian Thuram, David Trezeguet, Patrick Vieira (Juventus Turin).

Allemagne (1) : Willy Sagnol (Bayern Munich)

Espagne (1) : Zinedine Zidane(R.Madrid)

Togo are the first to arrive

"FIFAWorldCup.com"

Togo became the first FIFA World Cup™ hopefuls to arrive in Germany when they touched down in Stuttgart at 4pm on Monday.

Even before their plane had taxied to its final parking position, the Togolese delegation was greeted by Herbert Rosch, president of the local Wurttemberg Football Association together with German Football Association (DFB) match committee chairman Hermann Selbherr. Some 70 reporters and 15 camera crews, including film units from Japan and Brazil, were present to cover Togo's arrival in the FIFA World Cup host nation.

"Obviously we're underdogs," Togo's German coach Otto Pfister said as he passed through the airport. "But we can still make an impression at the World Cup. Our preparations are totally focused on our first match against Korea."

The FIFA World Cup newcomers, who have been drawn against Korea Republic, France and Switzerland in Group G, lost 1-0 to Saudi Arabia in their most recent warm-up match played in the Netherlands on Sunday.

Baden-Wurttemberg first minister Günther Oettinger welcomed the party at a reception in the terminal building, before the delegation boarded the team bus for the drive to Wangen, the team's base for the group phase. The new arrivals were treated to a less formal welcome in the evening as representatives of the town in the Allgau region invited the players to a party in the market square.

The Togo team bus, painted in the national colours, found favour with the Africans, one of whom even kissed the Togo flag painted on the side of the vehicle. Star striker Emmanuel Adebayor of Arsenal was missing from the group as he will join up with his team-mates after Wednesday's UEFA Champions League final against Barcelona in Paris.

Togo have lined up a series of warm-up matches ahead of the tournament. The Hawks meet a Bavarian regional XI in Aindling on 23 May, before taking on either Costa Rica or Bayern Munich's reserve team on 27 May in Frankfurt. The Togolese then travel to face Liechtenstein in Vaduz on 2 June, before a final warm-up in Wangen three days later against a regional select XI.

I wish Togo the best of luck at Germany but when they face France , be sure to see me near my TV rootin for France lol. DUDEK NOT IN THE SQUAD?! THAT COACH IS DRUNK! LOL Boruc and Kuzczak, itll be tough to see he makes it between the sticks , surely Boruc lol. Al Deayea , the oldest person at the world cup i believe , Mohamed Zaid has done well in qualification and looks certain to be NO.1 in Germany but you never know, Marco Paqueta might have other thoughts...

A random question : Why is Tizie in front of Ghanouan in goal , Gnanhouan's a good keeper , unless he isnt starting for his club , you kno chris?

"ESPNsoccernet"

LONDON, May 24 (Reuters) - Michael Owen will lead England's attack in probably their most eagerly-awaited 'B' international when they face Belarus on Thursday.

Coach Sven-Goran Eriksson will be testing both fitness and tactics in Reading, west of London, less than three weeks before what has been billed as England's best chance to win the World Cup since their 1966 triumph.

His main priority is to give Owen match practice, given that the Newcastle United striker has played only once since breaking a bone in his foot on Dec. 31.

Owen should also play in two 'A' friendlies at Old Trafford on May 30 against Hungary and on June 3 against Jamaica as he builds up his sharpness for the finals.

Thursday will also give Eriksson a chance to pair him with the towering Peter Crouch, his striker partner in the absence of injured Wayne Rooney.

Eriksson hopes Rooney will recover from a broken foot in time to play some part in Germany. He will know more after the Manchester United forward has a scan on Thursday.

For the time being, though, the more Owen and Crouch play together, the better.

Their 'little and large' partnership has already shown some promise, helping Owen to score against Colombia in the U.S. last May and in a friendly with Argentina last November.

More tantalising will be a first glimpse of Theo Walcott, whose call-up to the World Cup squad was a huge suprise to everyone -- including the 17-year-old Arsenal forward.

Walcott has yet to play for the Champions League finalists since being signed in January but Eriksson has indicated he will use him in the second half, probably instead of Crouch.

The biggest changes are due in midfield, where three of the four players are likely to come from Tottenham Hotspur -- right winger Aaron Lennon, holding midfielder Michael Carrick and Jermaine Jenas.

Lennon and Middlesbrough left winger Stewart Downing are sure to start. Bayern Munich's Owen Hargreaves is an option in the middle, though he may well fill in at right back.

Regulars Frank Lampard, David Beckham and Steven Gerrard have the night off, along with defenders John Terry, Rio Ferdinand and Gary Neville plus keeper Paul Robinson.

Arsenal pair Sol Campbell and Ashley Cole should start at the back in a makeshift defence that will face their Highbury club mate Alexander Hleb.

Introduced by England in 1949, 'B' internationals give younger players a chance but do not confer full caps.

Thursday's should give Eriksson food for thought before the finals start for England in Group B on June 10 against Paraguay. They also face Trinidad and Tobago and Sweden.

USA 0 Morocco 1

"ESPNsoccernet"

NASHVILLE, Tennessee, May 23 (Reuters) - The U.S. opened the first of three World Cup tune-up matches in six days with little to show on Tuesday as a 90th-minute strike by Mohamed Madihi gave Morocco a 1-0 victory.

The U.S. enjoyed the majority of chances after a lacklustre first-half, and a hamstring injury to captain Claudio Reyna will have done little to temper coach Bruce Arena's mood.

The eventual winner came via a counter as Bouchaib El Moubarki put Madihi through on the left, catching the U.S. defence out of position as he ran unchallenged into the area before beating Kasey Keller with a clinical finish.

The U.S. nearly grabbed a stoppage-time equaliser but a blistering free kick from Bobby Convey went inches wide of the right post.

Minus a player or two, U.S. coach Bruce Arena fielded what is projected to be his first team for the World Cup with Keller, defenders Steve Cherundolo, Eddie Pope, Oguchi Onyewu and Cory Gibbs, along with midfielders DaMarcus Beasley, Reyna, John O'Brien and Landon Donovan with forwards Brian McBride and Josh Wolff.

Leeds United midfielder Eddie Lewis, who was rested for the game, is expected to start when the U.S. opens against the Czech Republic on June 12 in Gelsenkirchen.

Reyna's status will be closely followed in the next few days as the captain limped off the field in the 15th minute with what was diagnosed as a strained right hamstring.

The Manchester City midfielder suffered the injury in the 11th minute when he extended his leg to control an errant pass.

The U.S. didn't produce a shot on goal until the 52nd minute when Convey, who came on to start the second half, tested goalkeeper Tarek El Jarmouni with a blast from outside the box.

A minute later, the U.S. survived a scare when Talal El Karkouri saw his header off a Zakaria Aboub free kick go over the bar with Keller clearly beaten.

Eddie Johnson nearly got the U.S. a deserved goal when he was unchallenged on a firm header from a Convey corner, only to send the ball over the bar.

El Jarmouni proved up to the task late in the half when he made a superb stop from Donovan's long-range effort eight minutes from time.

Keller also proved his worth as he extended well to his right to stop Nabil Mesloub's attempt that looked on its way just inside the left post.

The U.S. play Venezuela on Friday in Cleveland, Ohio and face Latvia on Sunday in East Hartford, Connecticut. They depart for Germany on June 1 and will be based in Hamburg.

Austria Vienna 2 Trinidad & Tobago 3

Trinidad and Tobago continued their World Cup build-up with a 3-2 victory over Austria Vienna.
The Soca Warriors - who are in Group B alongside England, Sweden and Paraguay - went ahead in the 25th minute with a goal from Coventry striker Stern John.

St Johnstone forward Jason Scotland added a second two minutes later as the Caribbean side went in at half-time with a 2-0 lead.

Coach Leo Beenhakker made eight changes at the break with only skipper Dwight Yorke, Chris Birchall and Densill Theobald keeping their places.

Andreas Walzer pulled a goal back for the Austrians in the 79th minute but substitute Kenwyne Jones of Southampton restored Trinidad and Tobago's advantage.

Austria pulled a goal back from the penalty spot in injury time but Beenhakker's side had done enough for victory.

Austria 1 Croatia 4

VIENNA, May 23 (Reuters) - Croatia began their World Cup preparations with a comfortable 4-1 away win over Austria on Tuesday.

Undefeated throughout their World Cup qualifying campaign, Croatia set up their latest victory with two first half goals from Werder Bremen striker Ivan Klasnic.

Second half strikes from Marko Babic and Bosko Balaban sealed an assured performance by Zlatko Kranjcar's team.

'I am very happy with the way we played,' Kranjcar told Austrian television.

'At the start at least we were up against a very well-organised defence, yet we managed to break it down with some good individual skills and also by converting the few chances that came our way.'

Klasnic put Croatia ahead after 11 minutes, following a fluid build-up involving strike partner Dado Prso and midfielder Babic.

Austria, who failed to qualify for the World Cup finals, grabbed a bizarre equaliser just three minutes later when captain Andreas Ivanschitz scored directly from a corner kick.

Still fighting for a place in Croatia's starting line-up, goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa grabbed the ball only to carry it back over his line.

Klasnic restored the visitors' lead 10 minutes before the break, however, this time with a solo effort -- beating three Austria defenders before rounding goalkeeper Helge Payer.

Kranjcar's decision to substitute Klasnic at half-time did little to blunt the Croatian attack, with Babic scoring his side's third goal 10 minutes after the restart with a shot deflected in off Austria's Paul Scharner.

Balaban, a 57th minute substitute, completed the rout with a well-struck free kick in the 69th minute.

Croatia play their opening World Cup game against champions Brazil on June 13. Australia and Japan are the other teams in Group F.

Vonlanthen doubt for World Cup

"ESPNsoccernet"

BERN, May 24 (Reuters) - Switzerland striker Johan Vonlanthen looks likely to miss the World Cup after damaging a hamstring during a training session.

The 20-year-old NAC Breda player made history two years ago when he became the youngest player to score in a European Championship.

According to team doctors, the Colombia-born forward partially tore his left hamstring during training on Monday, although the seriousness of the injury only showed up during a scan on Tuesday.

'It's very questionable whether he will make it,' Switzerland coach Koebi Kuhn told Swiss television in a telephone call from the team's training camp on Tuesday.

'We will keep an eye on him over the next two to three days to see if things change, but we're already afraid it won't be enough for the World Cup.'

Switzerland suffered a similar blow shortly before Euro 2004 when striker Marco Streller broke his leg in training.

On that occasion Vonlanthen was the beneficiary, earning a late call-up to the squad.

This time, Kuhn is likely to call on attacking midfielder Hakan Yakin who narrowly failed to make the squad despite coming back from injury to put in some strong performances for Young Boys Bern near the end of the season.

'Of course I have to start looking at alternatives straight away, and I have already been in contact with Hakan Yakin,' said Kuhn.

'We will decide by the end of this week if he should come back from his holidays and join us.'

Kuhn said he would have no problem calling up Yakin, despite having seemed to question the player's mentality when he named his final squad last Monday.

'He has always been a member of the team, but he was injured for a long time and only started to show his old form at the end of the season,' Kuhn said.

'That is the only reason why he is not with us at the moment. I have no problem with him and he has always put in good performances for us in the past so I don't see any reason why he shouldn't in the future.'

If Yakin does come in for Vonlanthen, the Swiss will have only three specialist strikers in their squad.

Two of those, Streller and top scorer Alex Frei, have themselves only recently returned to action following injury problems.

England B 1 Belarus 2 :P2

They only scored an equaliser because Robert Green (GK) hurt himself while taking a goal kick and the Belorussian scored in an empty net...
