in Australia there are five (or 6) free to air channels:

ABC - owned by the government
SBS - they show foreign news and movies, also the main football channel
Channel 10 - Commerical
Channel 9 - Commercial
Channel 7 - Commercial
Channel 31/TVS - community channel with home made shows

Then there is foxtel, optus, etc.

Weird - so they have Channel 9 and 7 but not Channel 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6! :eek2:

yes, ABC is an american channel, but this is tne australian version, it stands for Australian Brodacasting Corporation. it imports a lot of british shows.
