"BBC Sport"

Aston Villa have swapped Milan Baros for Lyon striker John Carew, who has signed a three-and-a-half year deal.
The Baros transfer was concluded earlier in the day before 27-year-old Norway international Carew agreed to a move in the opposite direction.

The former Valencia and Roma forward flew into Birmingham and sealed his move following a medical on Monday.

Watford's Ashley Young is also expected to sign following his medical after the two clubs agreed a fee at the weekend.

Carew was believed to have held talks with Werder Bremen regarding a move to Germany.

But the big target man, who had a spell in Turkey with Besiktas before moving to Lyon, has agreed to test himself in the Premiership under Martin O'Neill at Villa Park.

Meanwhile, Lyon coach Gerard Houllier made an inquiry for Czech Republic international Baros on Friday.

The 25-year-old, who played for Houllier at Liverpool, has one goal in 17 league appearances this season.

Baros was top scorer in Euro 2004 but has since struggled to rekindle that form - but Lyon are desperate for a striker as they battle with injuries.

Thanks, Chris. I like Carews transfer. I think he can do it well at Villa Park :)2

And John: Viking is a very good choose. They may be hard this year.

How good is Carew, Rosenborg91? I just hear about him from websites, but I'd like to know the real verdict from a Norweigan...

John Carew is Norways best footballplayer, no doubt. He is:
Strong
Fast
High (I think the English football will fit Carew well)

John Carew:
John Carew was born in Lørenskog, a small town outside Oslo, in 1980. He played there until 1997, when Vålerenga buied him.
He played great for Vålerenga. Scored a lot of goals, and he was one of the reasons for Vålerengas adventure in the Cupwinnerscup. They came to the quarterfinals, where they faced Chelsea. Carew scored, but Chelsea won.

As they did very often during the 90s, Rosenborg got Carew. But not free. Rosenborg paid 17.000.000 NOK.

John Carew stayed in Trondheim for a year. He scored 5 goals for Rosenborg in the Champions League and Valencia got him for 80.000.000 NOK!

During the period in Valencia played Carew two Champions League-finals. Unfortunalty he lost them both. 3-0 against Real Madrid, and against Bayern after a long penalty-shootout. Carew scored, but Valencia lost.
Carew became a star in Valencia, but in the 2003/2004-season, he went to Rome for a loan-period.
He wasnt that bad, but they returned Carew back to Valencia, and so on to Besiktas in 2004/2005.

In the summer of 2005 went Carew to French football. To Olympique Lyonnais. During the period in Lyon, he was a big star, especaly in the first season. He scored twice against Real Madrid, one of them a rare one. With his heel. Quite funny
He was good this autumn too, he scored a new beauty at Santiago Bernabèu. However, Lyon soled him to Aston Villa. ;)

   Here he looks like a mushroom.

Here is the quite funny goal by Carews heel.

And here is the beauty against Real Madrid. Skills!
