No, they finished fourth behind Slovakia (qualified), Slovenia (play-off) and the Czech Republic.

Honduras through!? I'll support Uruguay against Costa Rica then. Or did Ecuador make it in the end?

When is the European PO-draw?

The European play-off draw is on Monday but I think the seedings are announced tomorrow.
Read, Marius :neured:

Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Argentina made it through from South America. Uruguay will be in the play-off.

Monday's going to be a decisive day with the play-offs and the FIFA 10 tension (it comes out Tuesday :notworthy: ). As long as France don't get Ireland, I'll be happy - but even if we do get them, it'll test the squad and show if we really deserve to be in South Africa next summer. What ever happens, I'm ready :neushades:

That's so unfair. Why do you get to know the draw an hour before us? :snooty:

Quite unlucky the one to get Ukraine from pot 2. I bet France will get them :ohdear Ukraine are capable of beating them actually, especially at home.

I think anyone can beat France at the moment :neulol: Nah, not Slovenia though. Bosnia could give them a go but Ireland and the Ukraine have the best chance of beating them.

Draw

Republic of Ireland v France
Portugal v Bosnia & Herzegovina
Greece v Ukraine
Russia v Slovenia

Just what Ligue didn't want! Like I said before, Ireland could cause a surprise here. I expect Portugal and Russia to qualify - Greece v Ukraine will be interesting.

Easy easy for Portugal and Russia. Ireland can make some trouble while Greece and Ukraine is open. Greece haven't been in a WC since 94 while Ukraine made their debut in 2006. However, Greece won the Euros in 2004 and Ukraine reached the QFs last time. Recent sucsess for both teams... I believe in Ukraine though. Ukrainian football is strong atm and Greece are weaker now. They had an easy group while Ukraine did well against England and Croatia.

When I saw L'EQUIPE in the morning, I wasn't pleased :| We may not be playing the best football at the moment, but don't rule us out since we are capable of beating them - we have before so why not again? Ofcourse, it's going to be a difficult test, but it's a good test because these are the types of teams (and even better) that we'll be facing if we do make the World Cup next year. If we win, obviously we deserve to be there. We can't afford to lose in Dublin though, or else it will be extremely difficult at home.

Feel sorry for Ireland - It's a farce FIFA/UEFA changed the play-off system just when it was going to end :|

It's not a bad draw for France. Ireland aren't too strong. Ukraine were the bigger danger team I think, really their match against Greece will be the only competitive one. I'm hoping for Bosnia or Slovenia to win but it won't happen. :(

To be honest, I'm not scared of our opponents, I'm just scared of how we'll play ourselves, seeing as we're prone to mistakes at times. We may have finished well with the wins over the Feroes and Austria, but this is Ireland. We'll have to put on a solid performance.

Raymond Domenech has revealed his group for the matches earlier today, here it is:

Quote:

GARDIENS :
Cédric Carrasso (Girondins Bordeaux), Hugo Lloris (Olympique lyonnais), Stève Mandanda (Olympique de Marseille).

DEFENSEURS :
Eric Abidal (FC Barcelone/ESP), Aly Cissokho (Olympique lyonnais), Julien Escudé (FC Seville/ESP), Patrice Evra (Manchester United/ANG), Rod Fanni (Stade Rennais), William Gallas (Arsenal/ANG), Bakary Sagna (Arsenal/ANG), Sébastien Squillaci (FC Seville/ESP).

MILIEUX :
Abou Diaby (Arsenal/ANG), Alou Diarra (Girondins Bordeaux), Lassana Diarra (Real Madrid/ESP), Yoann Gourcuff (Bordeaux), Florent Malouda (Chelsea), Moussa Sissoko (Toulouse), Jérémy Toulalan (Olympique Lyonnais).

ATTAQUANTS :
Nicolas Anelka (Chelsea), Karim Benzema (Real Madrid/ESP), André-Pierre Gignac (Toulouse), Sidney Govou (Olympique Lyonnais), Thierry Henry (FC Barcelone/ESP), Loïc Rémy (OGC Nice).

Aly Cissokho is the only new addition, he'll replace Clichy who is injured. Senegal have been chasing him for some time, even his parents wanted him to play for them, but it looks like he's made his choice. From Ligue 2 a few years ago to international football, he's on the rise  Gourcuff is back!

Also: Domenech asked Lippi if he knew anything about Trappatoni's tactics (seriously :| ), but Lippi was scared to say anything since Trappa was behind them during the Milan-Madrid match :neured:

And: France will be having a new kit to show off in Dublin B) We didn't have our current one for long! I like the design though, brings back a blend of '84 and '98 B) Check it out!
