Another cricket session last Thursday, back in the nets for the first time in a while, and did well enough. Feel I'd be a decent player for the side. While on Wednesday I went Aussie Rules training, was disappointed about how I did in the drills, but scored 3 goals in the main game, and feel I'm a little more fit and intelligent on the ball. Had the gig with the band last Saturday so I couldn't play with the cricket side, but I'll be back with them on the 28th.

Right, well I had training last night with the Aussie Rules crowd again, and it went well! Though I was absolutely wrecked after it, so much running!

I'm off school tomorrow because of the Queen Mother herself and heading up to the Cork City game, then I'm playing for the Aussie Rules team on Saturday, and for the cricket team on Sunday (Rescheduled to Sunday from Saturday :) )

How Cool Is This btw?!

So I had my first (two) Aussie Rules yesterday. Got asked to play in the inagural Schools Cup game (The only of its kind in Europe I might add) I'm not in either school, so I played a half for both. Got into it straightaway and scored a behind from my first kick of the ball, and settled in well (Though a lot of the lads hadn't a clue about sheparding and the like) I scored for the team that won, and generally played better for that side, so I won the winners medal :P

From that I was ready to play the senior game, only to find that 6 lads travelled from Mullingar so we got a walkover. Despite that we had a scratch game, which was pretty much a shitfight in the wet and windy conditions. Despite that I enjoyed it, and managed to injure the President of the Association in Ireland with a well time shepard, and made a few tackles. I was playing in the backs however, so had no chance to score. I thought I played well for my first games though and I'm looking forward to the next one already :)

Today I'm playing for the Harlequins for the first time against local rivals Cork County. Hoping to get a chance with both bat and ball, the fixtures have been updated!

Well we lost today anywho, to what definitely wasn't Cork County's 4th team (More like their second). Went behind the stumps and only gave away 3 bye's (No catches though) Their opening batsmen were in for ages, and put on a partnership of around 130. They finished on 274-5 off 40 overs, and then I was told I was opening, no pressure! Both of their opening bowlers were bowling in the 60's, and I found it very difficult in my first game in about two years! I managed to survive the opening onslaught though (My opening partner and captain out before me) and just held on, letting number 3 make some runs. I managed to last the bones of an hour before being bowled (For 5!) though for my first effort in a while I thought it wasn't bad. Besides the number 3 (Who got 33 funnily enough!) there was little resistance, and my 5 was actually the third highest score! We were missing 4 regulars, and had two fellas who were about 12 I'd say, and were no higher than my waist. Next week we play Cork County again, this time their third's, and we can only hope to get some of the regulars back and get back to winning ways!

Another very satisfying win today in the Aussie Rules. Played against last year's Premiership winnners the South Dublin Swans. They only brought 12 and so didn't have anyone on the interchange, but all of their players were veterans of last season's success and we're no pushovers by any means! I started (unexpectly) and bagged myself a goal early on as we raced into a 4 goal lead in the first quarter with the wind behind us. We found the second must more difficult in the strong wind though, and were pulled back to two behinds after 40 minutes on the clock.

Second half we started well again and I was very involved in us opening out our lead at half forward, I think I might have scored a behind but I did an awful lot of ground work, setting up several opportunities for other players. The final quarter we had a 3 goal and 3 behind lead, hoping to hold onto it and see out the game. As a matter of fact we well outscored a tiring Swans outfit and saw out the game with a final scoreline of 71-66.

Yeah personally and as a team I was very happy. First win I really enjoyed in a while. Updated the results, waiting for the cricket ones to go online to update them but I updated my personal tally anyways

Updated the cricket results there, Aussie Rules side had a brilliant win with only 12 men so if we can win this Saturday by over 36 points we go top of the ladder

Another win in the Aussie Rules. Go top of the table and qualify for the Semi-Finals stage now. Will have the score up later, played alright, not well enough to get me an Irish place but the time to shine for that is in the semi's and (hopefully) the final.

Beat the North Leinster Kangaroos 78-1 on Saturday, almost guaranteeing a home berth in the semi's. Interesting having a 4 hour car trip after playing for 60 minutes but it's cool. Up twice more now before the finals!

Beat the Swans today but lost to the Demons in the final lightning carnival (3 points for win and 1 for a loss) which means we finish the regular league season top of the table! The carnival doubled up as trials for the Irish team at the end of the year and I got voted best player of the team for the two games so hopefully that made an impression! I'm going to miss the open session for the side next week because of a gig but hopefully I did enough today to maybe get a spot.
