Yeah I'd understand if we were playing a team from down there but it was Gloucestershire! :neulol:

England won but it was a scare at the end :eek2:

In other news:

BBC Sport

The England and Wales Cricket Board has confirmed there will not be a domestic 50-over competition from next season.

It means the Friends Provident Trophy has been dropped from the calendar.

In 2010, counties will play in the four-day County Championship, a new-look Twenty20 competition and a 40-over event instead.

The ECB does not believe the decision will necessarily weaken England's international chances in the 50-over one-day format.

ECB chairman Giles Clarke said: "The leading one-day team in world cricket - South Africa - do not mirror 50 overs at domestic level.

"The board acknowledged that the members of the International Cricket Council will themselves be reviewing the future of 50-over cricket after the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup.

"And it is felt that an increased programme of England Lions matches should be developed in parallel to the first-class counties decision re the domestic structure."

The ECB has also increased the number of overseas players permitted in Twenty20 action from one to two, though the limit will remain at one in Championship cricket.

England's first one-day county competition was the Gillette Cup, which began as a 65-over competition in 1963 - and has progressed through various incarnations as the NatWest Trophy, Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy and Friends Provident Trophy.

Ridiculous. How can you drop the 50-over cup competition?! The only positive is that Hampshire were the final winners, so surely they keep the trophy! :eek2:

Seems pretty silly, why would they drop it and instead play a 40-over competition?

Exactly, it's so retarded. At least do it the other way around and drop the 40 over one, and keep the 50 over tournament!

I think they're doing it just because the South Africans do it and they're the "best team in the world" :|

Clearly they aren't the best team in the world. Pakistan won the world championships...

Twenty20 World Cup you fool

Saw Day 3 of Hampshire v Somerset, Dyer. Hampshire made Somerset follow on, 155 behind  Imran Tahir took 7-140! :notworthy: Somerset finished on 50-0 with Trescothick and Suppiah in. I'm going to Day 4 to see how that works out! Hampshire need a win really to avoid relegation.

Day 4: Somerset needed 155 just to get level. Hampshire bowled Somerset all out but they took ages, eventually getting them out for 294. Trescothick hit 73 and Kieswetter got 70. Damn they're hard to get out! Hampshire's new talent, Briggs - 19 years old I think - took 3-62  Imran Tahir took 7-140 as I mentioned yesterday and took two more wickets today.

Anyway, Hampshire needed 140 to win in 17 overs. It was going to be like a Twenty20 match and Hampshire had a chance, but it was always going to be doubtful. Anyway, two overs in, the umpires call for bad light - the light hadn't even changed! The umpires were clearly from Somerset, it was such a joke.

Hampshire are now out of the relegation zone but had a great chance to win, but the umpires screwed us over.

Australia won the first ODI by 4 runs yesterday at the Oval. England should have got more runs in the middle part of their innings really. In that last over, Bracken bowled a clear wide but it wasn't given :| Instead England needed 6 runs from the final ball, and that was never going to happen

Durham just beat Nottinghamshire by an innings so they are the champions! Congrats to them.

Going to Hampshire v Somerset tomorrow in the Pro40. Hampshire won't win the league but it should still be good with Trescothick and Langer on show. The four-dayer between these two which I went to recently had a good finish too (despite the umpires' at the end), so this match should be good. GWS shall report :neushades:

I should mention England too - oh wait, nothing to say really. Can't do anything in one-dayers.
