Indeed, Cammy will be missing now

Should mention that Sinan Bolat, the Standard Liege goalkeeper, equalised for his team to help them get a Europa League place! :eek2: It was virtually the last action of the match too B)

Two goals from goalkeepers this round :thumb:

Horrible performance last night, no comments there. We'll settle for the Europa League, although we won't get far if we continue that kind of crap.

Arsenal's loss was expected, we used new players

Rangers were always out if you never realised :| I don't care as much, we never deserved to go through but now we can atleast concentrate on winning the league and waiting to see if we get any new buyers

Did anyone even watch Olympiacos vs Arsenal? Arsenal should have won by a 3 goal margin at least.

Haha TGL :P

I saw the match (don't be gay, TGL). Arsenal dominated, especially at the start. But possession doesn't win matches - goals do :neulol:

Here's Bolat's goal for Standard Liege too!

The Champions League draw for the last 16 is coming up soon. Here are the two pots (seeded and unseeded):

Group winners: Arsenal, Barcelona, Bordeaux, Chelsea, Fiorentina, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Sevilla.

Runners-up: AC Milan, Bayern Munich, CSKA Moscow, FC Porto, Lyon, Inter Milan, Olympiakos, Stuttgart.

Obviously the group winners will play the runner's up, but they can't face a team from their own country or previous group.

I believe this starts in 30 minutes :neushades:

The Draw

Stuttgart v Barcelona :x
Olympiakos v Bordeaux
Inter Milan v Chelsea MOURINHO BACK AT THE BRIDGE :eek2:
Bayern Munich v Fiorentina
CSKA Moscow v Sevilla
Lyon v Real Madrid
Porto v Arsenal
AC Milan v Manchester United

Stuttgart will be going home then. Inter Milan will be a tough match but I wanted Mourinho back at the Bridge so I must go to that! :eek2: Beckham will be back at Old Trafford with AC Milan!

Mourinho :notworthy:

I knew Inter would have Chelsea and I had a feeling we would get Porto too!

Not a new match for us this, beat them 2-0 in 2006 and drew 0-0 away. 4-1 at home and 0-2 defeat away in last year's group stage campaign too. Can't say I'm mad, but it's certainly not an easy opponent and United were lucky who beat them in the QFs last year.

Inter-Chelsea was bound to happen

Arsenal's draw is alright, we'll be screwed if we don't get a striker or two in January..

You laugh as if we got Barcelona or Real Madrid. Inter are a tough side of course but Chelsea can beat them. Beat them in pre-season too.

If Inter lose, I can sense Mourinho being sacked. He was brought in just for the Champions League, and if they lose then he's obviously failed again. He's been getting into trouble in Italy with the media and managers and so Inter might want to replace him...

Mourinho back at the Bridge is amazing though, I've been waiting for this ever since he took charge of Inter Milan :notworthy: The away leg is on the 16th March (home leg - 24th February) so I should have enough money for a ticket - although they'll probably enforce that points thing again :tsk:

Stuttgart have the hardest opponent possible probably - Barcelona. Not much else I can say about that really. I don't expect Stuttgart to qualify. Beckham back to Old Trafford is interesting though! That will be good to see. AC Milan have improved after a dismal start so a United win isn't so obvious.

Real Madrid should beat Lyon (on Benzema's return) although Lyon should challenge them. Bordeaux to go through easily, Arsenal shouldn't have any problems against Porto while Bayern Munich against Fiorentina should be quite even. Sevilla should progress too but going to Moscow in February won't be easy...

Chelsea-Inter will be very interesting. Chelsea's latest form suggests a win for them and when you see Inter's Champions League history it looks dark for the Italian side. Inter always fail in Europe, but we all know it's a quality side. Would be very typical if they won now though, at Mourinho's old home.

Other interesting England-Italy derbies in Milano too, where the English side is underdogs on a historical note. Milan eliminated United in the last 16 in 2005 and also in the 2007 semi finals. Not a bad recent form for Milan too, who has bounced back after a poor start. Should be close.

Arsenal-Porto again. Not easy for us and we have never scored at their place. We need a result in Portugal I think, even though we have beat them on total score both times in the groupstage.

Bayern-Fiorentina. New trip to Italy for Bayern, who seemed to be knocked out earlier. They are back now and it will be two great games. Get ready for quality football.

No need to say who's the favourite between Stuttgart and Barcelona. It has never happend that a team has managed to defend a CL title, but I don't think Stuttgart will break Barca's chances.

Bordeaux close favourites against Olympiacos, interesting match-up between two fine teams without very good sucsess. One of them will be awarded a QF ticket now, though!

Sevilla high favourites against off-season CSKA, but as Chris said, Moscow in February... Tough.

Real Madrid has not advanced from the last 16 since 2004 and if they fail this season too it would be a major dissapointing for Ronaldo & co. Lyon is certainly not a lucky side: Drew United in 2007 and 2008 and now Real Madrid :|
