The Champions League is back then! Tomorrow sees Lyon face Real Madrid and Beckham's Milan taking on Manchester United. UEFA have changed it around a bit this season so the fixtures look like this:

Round of 16

Tomorrow
Lyon v Real Madrid
AC Milan v Manchester United

Wednesday
Porto v Arsenal
Bayern Munich v Fiorentina

23rd February
Stuttgart v Barcelona
Olympiakos v Bordeaux

24th February
CSKA Moscow v Sevilla
Inter Milan v Chelsea

I quite like the new schedule as it means we can see more live games.

If you haven't done so already, make sure you update your squads in the uefa.com fantasy game.

The round of 16 has begun then:

AC Milan 2 Manchester United 3
If AC Milan finished their chances then they could have won this  I couldn't see the match properly so I can't really comment, but United must be in pole position to qualify now.

Lyon 1 Real Madrid 0
Surprise of the round. Real Madrid haven't qualified from this stage since 2004 - surely they can overturn this at the Bernabeu? Apparently a good goal from Makoun...

Porto v Arsenal and Bayern Munich v Fiorentina tomorrow. Arsenal have Gallas, Almunia, Eduardo and Arshavin out. Porto win or draw I think. Bayern to win their match.

It'll be tough for Arsenal indeed, look forward to seeing that..

Lyon beat Madrid, great win B) What a goal by Makoun  Bordeaux will make it past Olympiakos for sure

Surprise of the round? Lyon is one of the best teams in Europe, wouldn't say them winning a game at home is a massive surprise!

Impressive though, I feel sorry for Lyon who has never been in the Semi finals, but they always just not qualifies. Maybe this season, if they can stand 90 minutes of pressure at Bernabeu. What a pressure for Real Madrid who has bought a lot of stars this season to finally qualify for the last 8 for the first time since 2004.

For the record, Manchester United is through. The only way I can see Milan qualifying is winning 2-0 at Old Trafford, and that won't happen. United always score at home and Milan won't score three.

Surprise of the day I meant. Lyon are decent, yes, but I didn't expect Real to do that really. Lyon aren't doing that well in Ligue 1 either (by their standards). Apparently Lyon deserved the win though, so fair play to them.

Just saw the highlights from the United game - Rooney is certainly in great form and I hope he stays fit and continues this for England. Seedorf's goal was nice at the end but I don't think it's enough for Milan. United to go through, indeed. Carrick's second yellow for kicking the ball away - .

It was actually quite straightforward for United. Milan created chances but only because Evans was really nervous in defence. In attack United seemed way too strong, Milan had to put on 38-yr old Favalli and he was just embarassing. :ohdear

Fabianski's having a nightmare for Arsenal at the moment. He was at fault for the first and now the second goal. He picked up Campbell's back pass and Porto quickly took a free kick and scored. 2-1 Porto with 30 minutes to go.

Shitty goalkeeper, a 43-year-old defender, and a shitty ref (should've been banned already IMO), what more can you expect.

Haha. Speaking of bad referees, Ovrebo's at it again, Marius :|

Porto 2 Arsenal 1
Debatable winning goal. Surely Arsenal should have had time to build a wall? Great goals for Porto  but I think Arsenal will win it at the Emirates.

Posted Image
Bayern Munich 2 Fiorentina 1
Ovrebo let Klose, clearly offside, head the winning goal for Bayern. They take a 2-1 lead to Italy for the next leg.

Good result after all, I expected a loss with all those injuries, but at least we claimbed an away goal! However, the way we let in our goals were disgusting, what the hell Fabianski!?

As for the indirect freekick, I'm not sure about the rule, cos it's always a debative when things like that happens. I remember Brann got a indirect freekick against Rosenborg a few years back, took it quickly and scored, but the referee ruled it out. The commentators, newspapers and all media blamed the ref so this situation in Portugal must be right then? Don't trust Norwegian refs, though!

A bit unfair that we couldn't put up a wall, but they should pay attention. And why did we even make that stupid freekick, that's the annoying part here.

Oh well, 2-1. We should score at home, we have always beaten Porto at home in the latest seasons. 4-1 Last season, but that was groupstage and very different.

Viola and Arsenal to go through I think!

:neured: La Gazzetta dello Sport's on about it - he's hated in England and Italy now :|

Maybe Mannone should go back in goal, Marius  I doubt Wenger would want to ruin Fabianski's confidence though (by dropping him now).

I read in a newspaper earlier that the goal was fine (it was written by Graham Poll :| ).

The second half of the fixtures are this week then:

Tomorrow
Stuttgart v Barcelona
Olympiakos v Bordeaux

Wednesday
CSKA Moscow v Sevilla
Inter Milan v Chelsea

Barcelona should beat Stuttgart really although Stuttgart are a different side under Gross now :neushades: They just beat Cologne 5-1, which Hugh saw live B) , so should be high on confidence.

Olympiakos v Bordeaux is quite even I think. Bordeaux to progress over the two legs though. CSKA Moscow and Sevilla also - Sevilla to progress and should win well at home.

Can't wait for Inter Milan against Chelsea and the return fixture. I'll go mad if I get a ticket to the Bridge match :| Mourinho's return! Obviously it's a tough match for Chelsea and I think they'll draw at the San Siro.

Going to be a very tough match for Stuttgart. Personally, I think they'll get trashed.

The other matches aren't so interesting in my opinion. Bordeaux, Sevilla and Chelsea should go through comfortably.

Fail. :) Great to get a draw at home against Barcelona, although it will be a different story at the Nou Camp.

Bordeaux managed to win 1-0 away against Olympiakos - good result in Greece. Bordeaux should definitely be favourites to go through.

I saw Ciani's goal, poor marking there :neuwine: As long as they don't screw up in the second leg, they should be through :neutie:
