Chelsea beat Hull 2-1 thanks to a last minute goal from Drogba! Phew.

The biggest surprise of the round was perhaps Wigan's 2-0 away win over Aston Villa. Manchester City got off to a winning start, beating Blackburn 2-0. Adebayor and Ireland scored for them.

So far every game has had a winning result in it - no draws?!

Later I'll be doing a report for the round (like I did for Fantasy Football!) :thumb: Hopefully I can keep it up all season.

A good start for them, proving the doubters wrong. Only the start though.

1-6, what a victory! Who would believe that, at Goodison Park as well! I had this 4-0 Everton feeling when I walked out of Lerkendal today and after watching the first half today I thought Everton would make it 3-3

Oh well, even better than the opener in 2004 when we won 4-1 at the same place. Chelsea turned out to win that season so they're favourites now, eh :|

Glad to see Fabregas scoring, but save the goals for the close games, Cesc ;) 6-1 Is an important result anyway though, in case we fail in the next games. Now we have proved that teams team can play football, unlike teams who wins as a result of lucky overtime crosses.

I suppose we lead after round 1, but there are 37 rounds left so keep it coming :D

Even if it's only the start of the season, it's good to see that we got 3 points to start off with. It builds confidence and we can only do one better in the next match - even if we don't score as many goals  Great match :notworthy:

Matchday 1: Part 1

Arsenal thrash Everton 6-1 at Goodison Park! Fabregas scored two goals with debutant Vermaelen also scoring. Manchester City taking 4th place, what?

Results

Ah. Premier League football is back. Feels good.

Aston Villa 0 Wigan 2
Blackburn 0 Manchester City 2
Bolton 0 Sunderland 1
Chelsea 2 Hull 1
Everton 1 Arsenal 6
Portsmouth 0 Fulham 1
Stoke 2 Burnley 0
Wolves 0 West Ham 2

Table

Table

Arsenal lead on goal difference after one match. I suppose this will be quoted :|

Next Fixtures

Matchday 1 continued tomorrow
Manchester United v Birmingham
Tottenham v Liverpool

Matchday 2 (18th and 19th August)
Sunderland v Chelsea
Wigan v Wolves

Birmingham v Portsmouth
Burnley v Manchester United
Hull v Tottenham
Liverpool v Stoke

Look out for...

Here I'll mention one player to look out for in the rest of the campaign. First up is Hugo Rodallega of Wigan Athletic. He has like 4 goals in 5 Wigan games now and scored a stunner in what was perhaps a surprising win for Wigan over last season's Champions League chasers Aston Villa.

...and finally

I think my prediction for Burnley to survive relegation will be wrong :| Portsmouth could struggle more than I thought. Wigan were impressive and should do well under Martinez - it will be interesting to see how they do for the rest of the season.

We should of had 2 penalties... But I won't moan about it...

But Voronin ... I was hoping he would score :|

When the free-kick for the 1st goal, was being set-up, I said to myself: I can see a goal from this ... and it was a goal ... in the end

You thought Joe Hart was good? Sure he made some diving saves but I recall he dropped the ball straight to Berbatov (only for it to be called offside) and a couple of extremely poor clearances. There's a reason he got cut from Man City, I don't know why people rate him :|
