Matchday 19: Part 1![]() Roberto Mancini won his first game in charge of Manchester City as they beat Stoke 2-0 in today's Boxing Day matches. Results Birmingham 0 Chelsea 0 Burnley 1 Bolton 1 Fulham 0 Tottenham 0 Liverpool 2 Wolves 0 Manchester City 2 Stoke 0 Sunderland 1 Everton 1 West Ham 2 Portsmouth 0 Wigan 1 Blackburn 1 Table Table Chelsea gained a point but United could close the gap to two points if they beat Hull tomorrow. Next Fixtures Sunday Arsenal v Aston Villa Hull v Manchester United Monday Blackburn v Sunderland Chelsea v Fulham Everton v Burnley Stoke v Birmingham Tottenham v West Ham Wolverhampton v Man City Tuesday Aston Villa v Liverpool Bolton v Hull Wednesday Manchester United v Wigan Portsmouth v Arsenal ...and finally The busy festive period is underway then. The African Cup of Nations exodus will begin too after the Fulham match, so Chelsea are definitely going to be hit. Chelsea haven't been performing well of late (been quite unlucky though) and the 0-0 draw against Birmingham certainly isn't raising confidences. Malouda was sent-off today and now Chelsea will be without their African players - it's time for Borini and Sturridge to lead the line. I can see a few more points being dropped here so Manchester United could catch up soon. Anyway, not many goals today - certainly a round for the goalkeepers. Many good saves today. |

Mariner was a fool. Booking the wrong player, but he changed his mind thanks to the Liverpool players. But still, 2-0 to us and we didn't concede double the amount of goals we scored either |

Only two games played today so I'll just give a quick update and mention the scores: Arsenal 3 Aston Villa 0 and Hull 1 Manchester United 3. Fabregas was the hero for Arsenal. As soon as he came on, Arsenal broke the deadlock. Fabregas' free-kick was great, then a nice counter attacking move was finished off by the midfielder. He had to go off injured though. |

Just finished watching Chelsea 2 Fulham 1. Good game, although it was frustrating seeing Chelsea fail so many times. Eventually Ancelotti took Mikel off (did nothing) and put Sturridge on - and Ivanovic on for Ferreira - and it made an instant impact as Chelsea scored two (one an own goal from Smalling though) to take the three points Hopefully that will stop the rot but with Drogba going to Angola, I doubt it will be. The defence still seems shaky and they look nervous at set pieces. What happened to the confidence they had after beating United, Arsenal and Spurs and after thrashing Atletico, Bolton (twice) and Blackburn? Bosingwa and Anelka being injured sucks too, that's not helping at all.Fulham deserved a point. They defended really well, throwing their bodies on the line. Chelsea broke through in the end though Mourinho was at the game too, watching ahead of the Inter matches. He should have come down to the touchline! I'll do a report later with the other results.

Who was doing the better job, Jose Mourinho or Ancelotti? It looks as if Chelsea were doing better with Mourinho. |

It's a shame that Fulham don't have a defense or else they would've won. They were robbed

Are you joking? Their defence is good and they defended really well today...Matchday 20: Part 1 ![]() Chelsea came back from 0-1 down to win 2-1 thanks to Drogba and Smalling's own goal. Results Blackburn 2 Sunderland 2 Chelsea 2 Fulham 1 Everton 2 Burnley 0 Stoke 0 Birmingham 1 Tottenham 2 West Ham 0 Wolves 0 Manchester City 3 Table Table Chelsea go five points clear of United, but United play on Wednesday. Next Fixtures Tuesday Aston Villa v Liverpool Bolton v Hull Wednesday Manchester United v Wigan Portsmouth v Arsenal Look out for... Earlier on this season I mentioned that Joe Hart, Birmingham's goalkeeper, should be one to watch. I think Hugh laughed. Well, he's been great so far and AMAZING in the past two matches (0-0 v Chelsea and a 1-0 win over Stoke). He's England's form goalkeeper at the moment and should be in Capello's next squad for sure. ...and finally Roger - Mourinho was great and won many titles, but Ancelotti's only just started - what are you on about?

Lucky 7th place, congratulations Gary Megson has been sacked as manager of Bolton after yesterday's 2-2 draw with Hull. They were 2-0 up and Megson took Klasnic off when leading (for midfielder McCann) - the crowd booed... and this morning he's gone. I guess that was the final straw. Mark Hughes to replace him? Darren Ferguson would be a good replacement...
