I was listening to the match while on Second Life ... which is where you can currently find me ... hanging out with Furries and stuff ...

We should of had it won in the 1st 25 minutes ... but our finishing was just like a certain Drib Cissé

Matchday 4: Part 1

Wenger protests at being sent-off as Arsenal lose 2-1 to Manchester United.

Results

The first 'Big Four' clash of the season was won by Manchester United after they beat Arsenal 2-1 at Old Trafford. Arshavin scored the opener for Arsenal, with a Rooney penalty bringing the scores level. A Diaby own goal gave the 3 points to United.

Chelsea's unbeaten run continued as they beat Burnley - who beat Manchester United and Everton beforehand - 3-0 at Stamford Bridge. The impressive performance (no blue eyes here, Marius) saw goals from Anelka, Ballack and Ashley Cole.

Spurs continued their good form too with a 2-1 win over Birmingham. Aaron Lennon scored an equaliser in the 5th minute of injury time to steal the points. Liverpool beat Bolton 3-2 after Davis' was sent-off for Bolton. From there, Bolton never had control and goals from Glen Johnson, Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres won the game for 'pool.

Here are the results from all the games:

Blackburn 0 West Ham 0
Bolton 2 Liverpool 3
Chelsea 3 Burnley 0
Manchester United 2 Arsenal 1
Stoke 1 Sunderland 0
Tottenham 2 Birmingham 1
Wolves 1 Hull 1

Table

Table

Chelsea lead on goal difference.

Next Fixtures

Sunday
Aston Villa v Fulham
Everton v Wigan
Portsmouth v Manchester City

Look out for...

Arshavin. We know how good he is already but he scored a great goal and showed great vision - only one misplaced pass I think I saw?

Glen Johnson - two goals already for Liverpool this season. Two good ones too!

...and finally

United-Arsenal - the diving! Rooney dived for the penalty it looks like! :eek2: Eboue's dive there  That was funnier than Eduardo's - then they even showed Eduardo on the bench after Eboue did it :ohdear

The Wenger sending off incident was classic! Arsenal were unlucky anyway - a dubious penalty and an own goal. The Van Persie offside was correct though - the flag was up before Van Persie got the ball.

As for Chelsea: Burnley were defending really well in the first half. Brian Jensen made so many saves and was fantastic (I mentioned him as one of my players to watch before  ), but in the second half Chelsea ripped them apart to be honest. No 'blue eyes' on here. Ashley Cole's goal was great.

Those were some awesome Gifs. Very nice. I agree with the diving. There was loads of it. Burnley's keeper was on fire again. He'll be bought at christmas for 7m.

Surprised no-one has discussed the Man.Utd-Arsenal game tonight! I suppose everyone are busy with cheering or crying eh.

Well, I don't think the result is hidden for the one who sees this so I might just begin the digging of my little hole. What we saw at Old Trafford today, or in my case yesterday, was embarrassing. We should not have lost that match and we have only ourself to blame. Manchester United is a better side, but we are normally better at this point of the year and at the moment we should have beaten them. Arshavin knew and scored a rocket of a goal that should compete well in the goal of the weekend contest. The fact that the idiot of a referee didn't see the tackle on the same player earlier is a complete disgrace, but since we scored straight after we can't say we were robbed.

So why did United win this match? United is a team with matchwinners and they are that kind of team that always score when they just have to. Not tonight. Arsenal was the better side, but we played like idiots. Ten year olds. Wenger's side is young, but they have completed the kindergarden level and they are supposed to know better than what they showed the world on the pitch. Cos I must say I was uncomfortable wearing my jersey when our players fooled around and goot booked for stuff only clowns and monkeys does. Diving and complaining all the time. Sagna is a good example in that throw-in situation where he got booked. W-T-F. First of all, little Sagna, it was United's throw-in and you knew that. And when the whistle is blown you go and you fuck off and accept that and dont act like an idiot. That's childish and has nothing to do on the pitch.

As for Diaby: Head the ball out of the box the next time, eh? Can't say I like Almunia's rush out either, cos Rooney was not in a dangerous possition. The penalty was clear even though Rooney went for it, but Almunia should have known better than rushing out to tackle there. But that's match situations. What Sagna and the others showed was stupid.

I dont wanna go deeper in this failure, but Wenger is excused in my opinion. The feelings are high in tense games like this and when you lose a goal in the overtime you must be allowed to show that. Not in Ballack and Drogba's level of-course, but when the referee spends two minutes to send Wenger up in the crowd so the entire stadium and England can laugh at him, then its something wrong. That was no respect and I dont see the point. Football is about respect and not fooling the opponents like that.

Well, nill points was kind of expected, but the way it happends is a complete disgrace. But luckly its always a next game and I hope some of the players have grown till then. Is that too much to ask for?

Nice post.

Arshavin should have got a penalty but he scored straight after it so it doesn't matter.

I don't think Wenger's to blame really. Arsenal were unlucky with the penalty and an own goal. Diaby should have headed the other way - maybe he was trying to head it over the bar? United weren't that impressive either from what I saw.

Not sure about the penalty but I've seen a slow replay:

Not sure about that one. Sort of looks like he's diving...

The Wenger sending-off wasn't needed really as it was in the final minutes. Was funny to see but not needed.

I made my comments in the football pub, Dean screwed us. Diaby screwed us. Rooney was already going down before Almunia even touched him - and they all say Eduardo's a cheat, fuck off.

We were robbed of victory, end of story.

As for Wenger: :notworthy:

Arshavin's goal was nice though, shame we got robbed by Rooney then Diaby with his big head.

Arshavin's goal was good, but Ben Foster should have saved it. The penalty was a penalty to the letter of the law - Admin's gif is misleading and the camera from the other side shows it better. The Eboue one though

Gonna watch the replay later though, couldn't be bothered watching at 2.30 this morning. :neulol:
