He battled depression and was first treated for it in 2003. He had also struggled to overcome the death of their biological daughter Lara, who died at the age of two in 2006 because of a rare heart condition. I say biological because they adopted a child afterwards. He left a suicide note apologising for hiding his condition and then walked out in front of a train. They had a minute's silence during the press conference. Germany have cancelled their friendly against Chile at the weekend too. RIP.
