Spain (2008) Greece (2004) (Knocked out) France (2000) (Knocked out) Germany (1996) Denmark (1992) The five latest winners of the European Championship can be knocked out in the groupstage! Along with England as well, and even Italy, defending World Champions, are struggling. Surely, all won't go out, but still... Neither France or Greece is a big loss, though. Chris pointed out Greece's boring football, but I think they did okey last night. Greece didn't have to win? If Nigeria had scored a third, 0-0 would be enough. And the Greeks were smart, they knew the chances were bigger for 0-0 and 2-3 than themselfs beating Argentina. And to quote Rehagel: "When we get Kaka, Nesta, Messi and Ronaldo, we'll play offensive too" When you don't have the right players you can't play offensive. I give credit to Greece, but Korea through is fine. Gutted for Mexico for their loss, wanted them to win and avoid Argentina, but hey, they went through. Could have been different in the end there! France is a sad view. What happened to the symphatic players that played well and made French football proud in the beginning of this millenium? Now they are only arrogant and childish, needing to cheat to qualify and then refuse to train! There is no excuse for doing that to your country, even if Adolf Hitler was the manager. And the football you played in the World Cup. Goood. Cheers, Uruguay and Mexico. And ligue... if you ever read this. Don't write 100 lines about how Norway never qualify and our way of playing. I wasn't comparing us. Although we should beat you in that friendly in August. |

Group C first out then. I supported England in the beginning of the tournament, but I admit that it wouldn't be a big loss to see them fail if they play like they have played so far. I want to see good football. Let's see them again today before judging though. Slovenia have been very lucky so far so I'm not impressed by their performances either. USA seems to be big favourites against Algeria, but they have to draws so I'm not believeing this will be easy for the Americans. Algeria might not have scored, but they have only let in one goal - a big mistake as well. I believe they can win 1-0, but I can't see Slovenia take points against England so that means the end for Algeria anyway. Algeria through and England out would be a loss for TC2 as well. Imagine all the s and Chris killing himself.

If England win, Algeria can still qualify only if Algeria win 2-0 or England win 2-0. |

Uruguay to win, South Korea? lol. So Uruguay's route to the final is likely to be: South Korea, Germany & Holland, easy. Edited by #PrideOfSouthLondon, Jun 23 2010, 09:24 AM.

I was talking to Chris over MSN earlier and I said that England, Germany, Italy, Spain and even Portugal can crash out with France! |

No, you can't. Current table: 1.Slovenia, 4p 2.USA, 2p 3.England, 2p 4.Algeria, 1p If England and Algeria wins, England will win the group on 5 points and Slovenia and Algeria will tie on 4 points. Head to head rule comes before goal difference so Slovenia will advance because they beat you 1-0. So even if Algeria wins 10-0, you cant qualify if Slovenia lose. 0-0 For England and 1-0 for you is enough though

England! That was a much better performance! You could see the confidence in the players and the smiles at the end - great to see.The players were great. John Terry was immense in defence, blocking the shots Upson made a crucial tackle at the end too, which saved us! Gerrard was more disciplined on the left instead of always coming into the centre. Milner was sensational, he worked his socks off and set up the goal that Defoe scored Rooney seemed good too, and his confidence was growing. A shame he couldn't get a goal though, he must be desperate now. Worried about him going off though. Glad Capello chose Defoe over Heskey too.Great performance even though it was only 1-0, although maybe we should have scored more after dominating the match. Nervy ending I must say! Damn USA scoring late on, now we're second in the group Could be Germany v England

Exactly. We could possibly meet Germany next, Argentina after, Spain in the semi-finals and then Brazil in the final. It's never going to happen but imagine

England won't reach the final probably. If you are versus Ghana I can't see you reaching quarter-finals aswell. But that was a decent performance right there and Defoe > Heskey any place any time. |

Apart from in the last 10 minutes playing as a lone striker where you need someone to hold the ball up.
