God, that took time. Group G is the group of death.

Not happy for Annan and Ghana though... They can qualify but it will be hard

Expected an early analysis from ZZ now.

I'm very pleased we missed Portugal and France. They were always likely to be the bogey teams.

You guys are funny seeing as you didn't even know who Honduras are and where they're from :neulol: I suppose they have a chance, Switzerland and Chile aren't the hardest of opponents.

Group G is the group of Death, let's go North Korea! :neulol:

But I'm not too happy with Australia's group. Germany was one team I wanted to avoid. However, we beat Ghana last year (ok only a friendly) and Serbia doesn't scare me. Second place is very doable. :snooty: And then we'll have the easiest group to play in the Round of 16 - that is group C. Italy and Spain's groups are pathetic as well. :neured:

Philippe Troussier has been offered the North Korean job for those who haven't heard yet :| It's crazy since their current coach got them through qualifiers and now the federation wants to get rid of him. Then again, it is Troussier after all, he may not be great, but he's experienced :neutie: That would be interesting if he takes over, although I can't see them doing anything to the Ivorians, Brazilians, or Portuguese. A shock win over Brazil would be nice though

England have officially announced their friendly with Egypt for the 3rd March as World Cup preparation. They're supposed to be in the same mould as our group rivals Algeria, although ZZ thinks otherwise

Capello said on TV a few days ago that he wants to play Japan too, although I can't find this mentioned anywhere.

England's itinerary:

BBC Sport

England manager Fabio Capello will reveal his final 23-man squad for the 2010 World Cup on 1 June.

A provisional squad will be named on 16 May and travel to a training camp in Austria the following day.

England will play two friendly matches, against Mexico at Wembley on a date to be confirmed, and against Japan in Austria, on 30 May.

Capello's side will fly to South Africa on 2 June in preparation for the start of the World Cup nine days later.

The Italian, who took over as England manager in December 2007, said last summer that he was concerned about the high altitude of Johannesburg in South Africa and wanted a training base in mountainous Austria.

England will return for the Wembley friendly against Mexico, before flying back to their training camp to prepare for their final warm-up game against Japan, which will kick-off at 1415 BST in the Austrian city of Graz.

The players will then return to England for the final squad announcement and fly to South Africa the following day.

The Football Association has confirmed that players who are involved in the FA Cup final on 15 May or the Champions League final on 22 May, will follow a different itinerary.

16th May - Provisional squad named
17th May - Training camp in Austria
30th May - England v Japan in Austria
1st June - FINAL squad announced
2nd June - Fly to South Africa

Looks like the debate about whether Beckham should go to the World Cup has ended then. He's apparently torn his left achilles tendon so that could be it for his dream of being at the World Cup (he's bidding to become the first England player to feature in four successive World Cup finals).

I wouldn't start him for England but I'd personally still have him in the squad. He's a great crosser of the ball and a decent substitute. England have plenty of options for that side though.
