I'm surprised ZZ never commented - he must be gutted :o A rather convincing win for Egypt but Algeria did have a player sent off early and ended with 8 men! :eek2: Crazy game.

I saw the second half of Ghana-Nigeria. Quite a boring match really but congrats Ghana. I hope they beat Egypt in the final!

We had 3 players sent off so that scoreline was inevitable.

The referee was a joke though throughout the game. This is not an excuse, BBC and Eurosport said this as well. The game was tight til the 40th min at 0-0. A penalty which was blatent but Haliche being sent off was a joke as he got his 1st yellow for an arial challenge from a FK from an rushing out keeper which of course was unavoidable and should never been a yellow. Their penalty was a tad suspect as he started a run, stopped, took a 3 second pause, keeper dived already and he slotted the ball. That rule should be changed as it's a huge disadvantage for keepers. This was the major turning point in the game. From then on it all went downhill from then on. Stupid Belhadj and the keeper getting red cards which was so unneccesary and ill tempered. Then of course when you are outnumbered, you're bound to concede further goals.

At least we're in the world cup which is more important :)

The penalty situation was okey, he didn't touch the ball and fouled the player. However, to get a red card you must have stoped the opponent from a clear chance and I don't think that qualified for a red. It's not even a yellow in my opinion.

As for the penalty kick, he followed the rules. They are allowed to, but ZZ can have his opinions on it of course. It's a hard technic after all.

I didn't say it wasn't a pen or that it shouldn't have been a 2nd yellow. I'm saying the 1st yellow was an awful decision. I'm not complaining about the penalty itself as it is in the rules but what I'm saying is it needs to change as you are blatently waiting for a keeper reflex to slot it in. I don't mind a quick feint but a feint that lasts more than 3 seconds gives you and advantage as chances are the keeper's already dived. A quick feint is a hard skill but running, feinting then pausing isn't :)

Well the first red card deserved a yellow since he took out the player and not the ball. The second was a blatant attempt at injuring the player and the red card was well deserved. the third was blatant too because the keeper deliberately kicked the player and made no effort for the ball as some would actually take that as a direct red card so it didn't really matter that the keeper already had a yellow to be honest. The penalty wasn't fairly taken though cause the keeper already committed and only then did he slot in the goal. but otherwise Algeria gave up and got suicidal and tried to injure players. Thats not fair play

Nuno did you see Haliche's 1st yellow card that resulted in a red after the pen? - That's what I'm disagreeing with as he challenged for the ball from a Freekick and just bumbed into the RUSHING keeper. :)

You also make it seem like we were out to hack every player we saw but in fact it was only 2 stupid players that did that and they got delt with.

Very dodgy penalty from Egypt (not the decision, the actual penalty, running in and stopping like that). Is this allowed? I know Ronaldo does is but not as blatantly as that.

But a poor final for mine. I don't Ghana (WC rivalry) and I don't like Egypt either, they couldn't even qualify for the World Cup. :|

The commentators were saying it's not allowed but I'm sure other players do it and get away with it...

BBC Sport

Togo have been banned from the next two Africa Cup of Nations following their withdrawal from this year's tournament.

The Confederation of African football (Caf) also fined the Hawks $50,000 for quitting the competition in the wake of a gun attack on the team bus in Angola.

Two members of their delegation and a coach driver were killed in the ambush, which occurred two days before the start of the tournament.

World football governing body Fifa declined to comment on the ban.

However, a statement from CAF read: "The executive committee has banned Togo from the next two African Nations Cup and fined the Togo FA 50,000 U.S. dollars."

A Togolese assistant coach and a press officer died along with the driver following the ambush on their bus in the northern Angolan province of Cabinda on 8 January, prompting the government to recall the team for three days of mourning.

The Hawks initially wanted to compete in Group B with Ivory Coast, Ghana and Burkina Faso, but quit on 10 January - the tournament's start date - on 10 January on their national government's orders.

But African football's governing body says the decision to pull the team out amounted to governmental interference in the sport.

"The players publicly expressed their willingness to return to the Nations Cup to compete. But the Togo government decided to call back their national team," Caf explained in its statement.

"The decision by political authorities contravenes Caf and African Nations Cup regulations."

Togo midfielder Thomas Dossevi, who was on the bus when it came under fire minutes after it crossed the Angolan border from Pointe Noire, Congo, said Togo should appeal against the ban.

"We are a group of footballers who came under fire and now we can't play football any more. They are crushing us," Dossevi said.

"Togo should appeal the suspension. When we said we were going home for a three-day mourning they said they were with us in this ordeal and now they punish us."

Meanwhile, the families of the assistant coach and the press officer were taking legal action against the Caf and the Angolan state, their lawyer said.

"We are taking legal action because our compatriots were killed because of the mistakes of the Confederation of African Football (and) its president Mr Issa Hayatou," lawyer Alexis Aquereburu said.

"(The legal claim is) also against the Angolan state for putting in danger the life of our compatriots by organising this African Nations Cup in a war zone."

The armed wing of the Front for the Liberation of the Enclave of Cabinda (FLEC), embroiled in a decades-long separatist struggle, claimed responsibility for the attack.

The FLEC has fought a 30-year war against Angola's government for independence.

One grievance is that Cabindans see little of the money from oil that comes from their land.

So what about the Algerian 'keeper's headbutt on the referee? :|

Should mention that Nigeria got 3rd place after beating Algeria 1-0. The final is on in over 10 minutes (on BBC2 for us in the UK). Come on Ghana

I know the Ghana team are young but did anyone just see the player on the bench with a dummy in his mouth? :|

Boring half so far in my opinion, not many chances.
