Why would he be fired after a draw tie away from home in Europe? :| You Sunderland fans are missing a perspective for such stuff.

Chelsea is 1-0 up I see.

Anelka's second, Chelsea double their advantage.

Just seen the 1-0 goal as well, what a horrible pass there! Nice finish from Anelka

EDIT: Ah, what do you know. Benzema has put Real Madrid in front as well! Damn, almost put money on Real Madrid and Chelsea two goals win tonight. Better not be right, cos I didn't! :|

Whaaaay! Can Real actually fail again!? I mean, 1-1 away is good, but still very open! 2-2 In Madrid, gogo! :P

0-0 draw in Copenhagen and then the boot for Ancholotti tomorrow.
Oh dear. I would have taken 0-0, but a 2-0 win is great! I guess Copenhagen's two month break from competitive football counted against them today. We did well and it's great to finally win again.

Yeah Chelsea should be through with that. Anelka, back to form it seems. Drogba on the way out?

It is a good result for Real Madrid no matter the circumstances. They should go through at the Bernebeu, though I remember than shock Lyon win last season. Hilarious it was. Real are much stronger now than then though.

Couple of big matches tonight then.

Chelsea and Shaktar are more or less through already. The four other games are wide open still.

Two last first leg games tonight then. Marseille takes on United at the mighty Velodrome - one of the most feared awaygrounds in Europe. Wild fans that only want the best of their club all the time. I think United should take control of the match to make their fans come against OM. That's their key tonight, cos Marseille's fans can also go against their own side. However, I think Man U will play low and go for a draw. I don't think there will be many goals. Prediction? 0-1, 1-1?

Inter-Bayern should be good as well. Two teams that started off poorly at home, but them both are inside for next season's Champions League campaign - although it's close for both of them.

Don't know what to predict here, but maybe Inter's homeground advantage will do well?

I wish I could of watched Inter-Bayern but the streams were so poor. I had to watch Marseille-United on TV - and how boring it was :| United will win at home.

Bayern beat Inter 1-0 away I see, nice! Gomez scored in the 90th minute thanks to an error from Julio Cesar apparently. Revenge!

A bit gutted now. Saw a good odds on livebet, 6 in odds for Gomes to score. Thought I'd put a few money on that, really should have! :P

Was about to say, football is a fun sport, eh! One goal in two games, hardly one at all! I'm sure the pressure is too big nowadays :P

Marseille-United was never going to be a knacker. Marseille did well, United hardly had chances as I could see. Only kept a half eye on that match, though.

Two open games for the second leg. Inter can still come back, and even though United will be favourites at Old Trafford, 1-1 is still an option! Come on, Marseille :D

Marseille-United was so boring that I couldn't wait to finish my Uni work as that was more interesting! :|

Marseille have a chance, of course, but I can't see anything other than a win for United at Old Trafford. I look forward to seeing Alle's views! Bayern with a 1-0 advantage and the second leg at the Allianz Arena... looks like it could be revenge for Bayern!

0-0 in the first leg is the most dangerous result for both teams. It's so unpredictable. An away goal for Marseille could be enough but I can see Man Utd dominating at home.

Bayern should be through then..some revenge I guess. Inter aren't much chop.

People say it was a boring match, IMO it was alright from our point of view - because we did what we needed to do: Keep those cunts at bay. M'bia was class, no surprise. Him and Diawara were always going to be a test for for the likes of Berbatov, Rooney, and Nani. Nani did look to be a threat early on, but we contained him afterwards :neuwine: Attacking wise, we can all say it was boring - Brandao had a header or two, nothing threatening obviously. Remy was a beast every time he touched the ball, Ayew wasn't bad as well. If we had Gignac and Valbuena from the start (who came on late, but he's still recovering from injury clearly), we would've been more of a threat. I look forward to the match at Old Trafford, we have nothing to lose now

EDIT: OI Chris, here's a late Christmas present, a photo thanks to our friends from Getty Images:

Round of 16 - first leg results

Copenhagen 0 Chelsea 2
Lyon 1 Real Madrid 1
Marseille 0 Manchester United 0
Internazionale 0 Bayern Munich 1

AC Milan 0 Tottenham 1
Valencia 1 Schalke 1
Roma 2 Shakhtar Donetsk 3
Arsenal 2 Barcelona 1

Great result for us given our poor form. A morale boosting win for sure, even if it was "only Copenhagen". I thought they could surprise us actually, but like I said before, I guess their winter break didn't help them. We should win well at home, so I expect to see us advance.

I guess a 1-1 draw between Lyon and Real Madrid isn't that surprising. The Bernabeu match will be good though - will Real Madrid finally advance?! I think so...

I expect United to win well at home against Marseille. Bayern are at the Allianz Arena with a 1-0 advantage against the defending champions - it wouldn't be that surprising if Inter turned it around though - they are defending champions after all...

I think Barcelona will win at home against Arsenal. Arsenal did well at the Emirates to win, for sure, but I can't see that happening in Spain. I can't believe Tottenham won in Milan! They definitely have the advantage and I think they can hold off Milan at White Hart Lane! Unbelievable from them. Schalke and Shakhtar to win in the other matches.

There are two teams that simply can't fail now. Chelsea and Shaktar Donetsk. Of-course, Roma CAN win 2-0, and FCK can have an outstanding lucky night in London, but it won't happen. Chelsea won't lose at home, and especially not by two goals. Roma has a crap form too, and they need to cope with three awaygoals...

United and Real Madrid have good advantages, and should be going through. Especially United, but you never know with 0-0s. If Marseille score first, it will be a thriller. Perhaps they only need one goal, cos Man U hasn't been that great lately. Real always seem to fail, so.

Bayern won away from home too, should advance.

Arsenal and Spurs won their first legs, but them both have unsure cards. Arsenal to play away and Spurs? Milan are good, and 1-2 is a normal result. Everything can happend there as well!

Schalke-Valencia is very open. Valencia is a better side imo, but Schalke have homeground advantage.

In my opinion, these are the odds:
Chelsea - FCK 97-3
Shaktar - Roma 85-15
Manchester United 70-30
Real Madrid - Lyon 65-35
Bayern - Inter 65-35
Barcelona - Arsenal 60-40
Tottenham - Milan 55-45
Schalke - Valencia 50-50
