Yeah there were a lot of goals but it was still never alive because Sevilla were never in front. It was surprisingly boring for a match that ended 4-3.

I'm glad I'm watching Sampdoria-Werder Bremen then. Werder Bremen have made it 3-2 (to Sampdoria) now! Sampdoria must regret taking Cassano off - to a standing ovation - at 3-0 near the end :neulol:

Werder Bremen held on for a 5-4 aggregate win in the end. A game of two halves - Sampdoria did really well in the first half but Werder dominated the second. Sampdoria started wasting time when they were 3-0 up, rolling around on the floor etc. Cassano got "injured" and was taken off five minutes before the end with a big smile on his face - before Werder hit back  A shame because I wanted to see a new Italian team in the Group Stage!

Just managed to catch the Anderlecht-Partizan Belgrade penalties. Partizan win it 3-2! The penalty spot was absolutely terrible - Anderlecht ruined it for themselves :neulol:

Hapoel Tel-Aviv, Basel, Partizan Belgrade, Braga and Werder Bremen advance to the Group Stage then. Copenhagen-Rosenborg and Tottenham-Young Boys tomorrow :neuwine:

So Chris, will you be going to the final? Will you still be in London next year?

I'll be in London still, yes. I'll definitely go if I have the money and tickets are available! Watching the Champions League final would be an absolute dream - even more so if Chelsea are there.

I can't sit, I can't stand, I hate these days. The second legs of UCL quals where Rosenborg are involved. It was fair when we had a 3-0 advantage from the first leg in 2007, even after an away game, but this... 2-1 At home is a dangerous lead, especially against FCK who hardly lets in goals at home. I smell 1-0 :(

Hopefully it will be the same score like in 2008 - 1-1!

I don't know who Zilina are, but apparently they are in the Champions League. Defeating the big brothers from Czech Republic!

Play-off round second leg results

Ajax 2-1 Dynamo Kiev (agg 3-2)
Auxerre 2-0 Zenit St Petersburg (agg 2-1)
FC Copenhagen 1-0 Rosenborg (agg 2-2) (FC Copenhagen win on away goals rule)
MSK Zilina 1-0 Sparta Prague (agg 3-0)
Tottenham 4-0 Young Boys (agg 6-3)

Anderlecht 2-2 Partizan Belgrade (agg 4-4) (Partizan Belgrade win 3-2 after penalties)
FC Sheriff Tiraspol 0-3 Basel (agg 0-4)
Hapoel Tel-Aviv 1-1 Red Bull Salzburg (agg 4-3)
Sampdoria 3-2 Werder Bremen (agg 4-5)
Sevilla 3-4 Braga (agg 3-5)

A shame Rosenborg lost out in the end. Copenhagen dominated throughout but Strand hit the post in the final minutes  Cool to see Auxerre, Zilina and a new English team - Tottenham, in the group stage.

Group Stage draw - the seedings

The Champions League group stage is finally here with the draw tomorrow

Here are the official seedings:

Pot 1
Internazionale
Barcelona
Manchester United
Chelsea
Arsenal
Bayern Munich
AC Milan
Lyon

Pot 2
Werder Bremen
Real Madrid
Roma
Shakhtar Donestk
Benfica
Valencia
Marseille
Panathinaikos

Pot 3
Tottenham Hotspur
Rangers
Ajax
Schalke 04
Basel
Braga
FC Copenhagen
Spartak Moscow

Pot 4
Hapoel Tel-Aviv
FC Twente
Rubin Kazan
Auxerre
Cluj
Partizan Belgrade
MSK Zilina
Bursapor

Who do you want for your club then? I kind of want Real Madrid so I can see them at the Bridge :neulol: , but if I want an "easy" group then I'm looking at Panathinaikos, Basel and maybe Cluj. Chelsea, Marseille and Rangers together would be good for The Complex :neuwine:

The draw is at 5pm BST (6pm CET) tomorrow.

Damn, I'm gutted Zenit didn't get through. Good to see a new English team though, much better than the same old boring four.

Defoe's goal was clearly a handball. Crouch with a hat-trick in that game aswell. Spurs dominated the game..

Real Madrid in pot 2 with Shaktar Donestk? :| Obviously you want to avoid Madrid but I wouldn't mind them playing Man Utd, being in Madrid and all.

Indeed NZ, it beats seeing Liverpool in the Champions League again!

Moore - yes, it was definitely a handball (well, it hit his arm). He didn't try to hide it though - he stood waiting for the linesman to disallow the goal but he didn't, so then he celebrated  Tottenham were always going to win at home and it was obvious as soon as Crouch scored early on.

I guess Real Madrid are in Pot 2 because they have done so poorly in the Champions League in recent years, Hugh. Shakhtar won the UEFA Cup in 2009 so I guess that gave them a load of coefficient points  You'd want to avoid Real Madrid indeed, ideally, but they would be cool to see at the Bridge (especially with Mourinho there) :neushades:

Dangerous sides lurk in each pot so the draw will be an interesting one

They're televising the draw here in NZ. Don't think they've done that before. I won't catch it live (3am I think) but they're replaying it later tomorrow so I'll watch that. I've never seen a draw before. Are they interesting?

Well I always watch the draw live because of the suspense and all, but one thing to remember if you're watching it for the first time - it won't actually start at the time they say as they spend AGES talking about how it's all done and UEFA stuff! :|

Definitely not getting up at 3 then :|coffee

There won't really be any suspense for me anyway because I don't have a team I support in the Champions League. I like to see Russian teams do well but I'm not too bothered about who they get in their group.
