By the way, keep the Team of the Season XI's to a 4-4-2 formation so it's easier to put everyone's teams together. Half-time everywhere with Wolves going down at the moment - they're 3-0 down to Blackburn and Blackpool are drawing 1-1 against United 45 minutes for teams to save their seasons

Blackpool have "officially" been relegated - 4-2 now with 8 minutes to go, there's no way they're coming back really. As for Arsenal, good night

What a round! Can't believe the Carling Cup champions are down! Europa League and Championship football for Birmingham next season! A shame Blackpool are down They were leading 2-1 at one point! A shame United turned it round, but it's not surprising. Loving the scenes on TV now - McCarthy being soaked by a Wolves player live on TV during an interview, pitch invasions...Everton-Chelsea's result didn't matter, but we lost anyway. Poor from us, especially for the goal. |

Player of Season:Nani Young Player of the Season: Jack Wilshere Flop of the Season: Fernando Torres Manager of the Season: Carlo Ancleotti Surprise Team of the Season: Stoke City Match of the Season: Newcastsle - Arsenal 4-4 Goal of the Season: Wayne Rooney vs Manchester City! Nani gets my Player of the Season award - by far. Technical wonderful to watch, he drives through defenses like hot knife in butter, he carries the ball kindly, as a woman, and he has scored the top assists in the 2010-2011 season. A good reason why United celebrates the title today. I could have given the Young Player award to Hernandez, but I think Jack Wilshere should get this. Great talent, did well for the Arsenal and our future captain. A true leader and an upcoming star for England. Watch out. And then to a less heavy prize. I give my flop to Torres. Not because he is a bad footballer, and not because of the price that was needed to bring him in. It's just that he has been horrible compared to what we are used to see from him. He is a great footballer and I hope he comes back. He has struggled with injuries and the pressure he got when he was bought for that sick amount...no-one deserves that! If someone told me in January that I'd say Ancleotti is the manager of the season, I'd think they were drunk. But he is really. So much pressure, so many rumours that he could be fired. Failure after failure. However, he has been standing against the pressure, done a well spring season and no-one has picked more points after that. Talk about turning the form. Trophyless season. If they keep him, that won't be the reality in 2012. Chelsea. Stoke City is the surprise team of the season. They have been in the top league for three years now, and I thought they'd go down now. But they have just got even better. Brittania has become one of the greatest and hardest places to play at, the atmophere is eletric. Now they'll be in Europe. Get in. The match of the season, I think, is a match I won't remember with a pleasure. The amazing turn-around at St.James's park. A match that we all thought WTF! Have to give my story about this one. Me and my mate Henrik, supporting Newcastle, had a long build-up for this one, especially after they beat us in London. Unfortunatly, I missed the first half because I was out, so I was a bit gutted when we were 4-0 up already. Posted some crap at my mate's facebook just to jinx it all. Cos this day was one of the days we lost the title. 4-4. Unbelievable. And even more odd: Henrik never saw the second half. He went mad and got prepared to party instead. He didn't know the clue when I was texting "fuck" after the game! So basically, we both get to see the pain side of the game ![]() Goal of the year. No discussion. What a hit, son. What a hit. |

Yes, we finished the season on a high beating West Ham (So what, they are relegated) 3-0 away from home too. Zenden (On his last game for Sunderland), Sess and Cristian Riveros. Chris, i'll post my team of the season later. My awards later and also i'll be posting a review of Sunderland's season later too. Also, Blackpool have europa league through the fair play league because Zoltan Gera got sent off for Fulham.

Player of Season: Scott Parker Young Player of the Season: Javier Hernandez Flop of the Season: Joe Cole Manager of the Season: Owen Coyle Surprise Team of the Season: Bolton Surprise Player of the Season: Charlie Adam Match of the Season: Chelsea 0-3 Sunderland Goal of the Season: Luke Varney (Blackpool v Wolves) Scott Parker is my nomination for "Player of the Season", despite being relegated with West Ham United, his the only player that has been consistent for the Hammers. He was the one that gave the Hammers hope of Staying up, but they did go down and a few clubs will try to sign him in the summer. Possible ventures could be Spurs, Arsenal or a club up north like Everton. Javier Jernandez gets my nomination for "Young Player of the Season" because well, for a player thats came from another league on the other side of the globe and has settled as well as Javier has, getting 20 goals this term , then why not give this lad a nomination. He has years to advance his career and i think he could be a force to be reckoned with. "Flop of the Season" nomination has to go to Joe Cole, he left Chelsea to sign for Liverpool on a free, which in turn saw Yossi Benayoun do the vice versa. He was signed by Liverpool with the idea that he was going to be an instant hit, but that never happened. From Getting Sent Off on his debut to hardly getting into the squad due to a certain Portuguese midfielder it hasn't been a season to remember for Cole. Joe Cole either needs to leave in the summer, or push for a first team place and better himself to avoid this title in future. Owen Coyle gets my "Manager of the Season" nomination, strange you may all think but anyone who can take over a side that was deemed relegation candidates last term, and turn them into a top 10 side again, and get them to the semi finals of the FA cup is a manager worth having, and i believe he is also the reason how Daniel Sturridge could be having a great second part to the season. Hopefully he signs him in the off-season, a few more players possibly in defence because Gary Cahill is due to leave and they could consolidate a top 10 finish in the 11/12 season. This brings me to my "Team of the Season" which so happens to be Bolton Wanderers . If you had asked me or any other member on this forum how do you see Bolton doing this term, you would not have said a top-10 finish and a FA Cup semi final i'm i right? Seriously, this team has impressed me this term and i am interested in what they can produce next term to see if they can be consistant or not. Their highlight has to be the 2-1 win over Arsenal at home (Sorry Alle and Marius ).Chris said over MSN i could add this category so..."Surprise Player of the Season" is Charlie Adam, a player that moved to Blackpool for half a million from Rangers, to the free-kick that got them promoted right down to today he has to be considered Blackpool's most influential player this term. His contribution will not go unnoticed in the transfer window with many big teams sure to be chasing his signature, but he could stay and help Blackpool be promoted. "Match of the Season" has to be, for me anyway the 3-0 win Sunderland had over Chelsea at the Bridge. For a team that hardly does anything on the road, to go to Stamford Bridge at the then-champions and win by a comprehensive margin, is somewhat amazing. Also, Zenden's dance was awesome. This brings me to my last nomination and it is "Goal of the Season" who i am handing to Luke Varney of Blackpool. You may all be reading this and thinking why hasn't he chose Rooney's against City, and well the perfect reply is overhead kicks are 50-50 really, hit them right and well done, hit it wrong and well you're fucked . Still for anyone who can't remember the goal here it is...... You may have to go around to 2:45 mark for the goal. |

Carlo Ancelotti has left Chelsea He was a great manager who won the Double in his first season. One trophyless season and he's out! I hate our board sometimes. He's a great manager! Who are we going to bring in now!? Of course I don't mind if Mourinho or Hiddink come back, but Ancelotti was good...

Though it didnt matter, Chelsea were dismal against Everton..... It was like a few players simply wanted to play bad to make Ancelotti the victim.... Abramovich needs to go to a mental institution.... He wants glory but that wont come without stability.... Well done United, wasnt your most glamorous season but when the situations got tight, you truly acted like champions and got the result. |

Goodbye Blackpool..shame for Birmingham, would have liked to have seen Wigan go down. Player of Season: Vidic Young Player of the Season: Hernandez Flop of the Season: Fernando Torres Manager of the Season: Ferguson Surprise Team of the Season: Man City Match of the Season: Arsenal 4-4 Newcaslte Goal of the Season: Rooney vs Manchester City/Tchite vs Arsenal And so another season ends...my awards obviously are a little bias, but I don't care. Quite similar to Marius' in any case. I put surprise as Man City because they ended up equal 2nd in the end. The top 9 is predictably familiar and no-one else really stood out.

I was watching MOTD without knowing the scores purposely. They showed the 4 games in question for relegation and it was mental when they switched from game to game in the same timeline. The relegation places were changing all the time and the last 15mins were hectic. I'm glad Birmingham City are down as they are boring. They relied on their defence until Scott Dann was injured and they didn't have the ability to score. Very sad to see Blackpool down. They showed plenty of attacking intent and their games were always fun to watch. |
