Gutted. After qualifying to three championships (1994, 1998, 2000) in six years, the next 11 would be dissapointing for the Norwegian team. We haven't deserved it, we haven't been good enough, but it has always been ONLY JUST not qualifying. 2002, World Cup Japan/Korea. Well, the 2002 campaign wasn't close. Not even a little. We started the qualification with ties against Armenia and Wales, continuing with defeats against Ukraine, Poland and Belarus! 0-0 in Kiev in June 2001 was only fair, and we were still without wins in times where teams started to qualify! September the 5th was our first victory, 3-2 against little Wales, after a late, late strike. 4-1 in Armenia completed our worst qualification in modern time. 2004, Euros in Portugal Norway should have had a penalty in Denmark... Started so well! Carew saved an important point at home to Denmark two mins into the overtime, and then we beat Romania away - and then Bosnia and Luxembourg. 3-1-0 half way into the group. The other half was grey, though. Lost the important battle in Copenhagen after an early goal from Grønkjær. Only 1-1 at home to Romania, before Bosnia beat us at home! Therefore we needed help in the last matchday, where we only managed to beat Luxembourg 1-0. We got the help, though, and grabed the play-off spot, where we drew Spain. In spite of an early, shocking goal in Valencia, we lost 5-1 in agg, and had to stay home during the summer of 2004. 2006, WCs in Germany Italy qualified, but only by a few points - that we screw up against likes of Belarus and Moldova... Annoying. We had the lead down in Italy too, but lost. Had to play the play-offs and paired up with Czech. A hopeless clear made us lose 1-0 at home, in order to lose by the same score away. We had the chances in Prague, but couldn't score. Dang. 2008, Euros in Austria and Switzerland Sigh. 3rd in a group where two advanced. Turkey and Greece. No giants. We played well, we beat teams 4-0, we screwed Argentina during the qualification, and we played good football. After 2-2 in Frankfurt (neutral ground due to Turkish hooligans), we wanted revenge at home to the Turks. Our keeper had screwed up down there, but dont you think we screwed up at home too. We needed a win to qualify, a draw to almost qualify and we'd be knocked out by a defeat. Lead 1-0 by an overhead kick, and this was going to be the night. 1-1. 1-2. Good night. 2010, WCs in South Africa Hareide screwed up with the start in the autumn of 2008, with no wins that year. Drillo came back with an optimism after beating Germany in a friendly, but we got stoped by Iceland and Macedonia. We somehow managed to finish 2nd after trashing Scotland, but being the worst 2nd placed team, we didn't get a spot to the play-offs. Great. Now we lead the group along with Portugal, who has better goal difference. We can win the group, but I think we have to beat Denmark away then... And then Cyprus at home. Play-offs are more realistic I guess, but can we win a play-off? Sounds typical for us to lose that. Denmark - Norway Tuesday. If we lose, an advancement seems far away...

We had a good first half, but we took our foot off the pedal in the second and were punished just after the restart - because of some confusion between Abidal and Kaboul (both were filling in for Mexes and Rami). Looking forward to tomorrow's match against Romania, especially with a few changes in the line-up
