BBC Sport

Hampshire batsman Kevin Pietersen has cast doubt over his future commitment to staying at The Rose Bowl.

The 29-year-old England star made his first Hampshire appearance in two years in Sunday's FP t20 win over Surrey.

That was only his 11th Hampshire game in the last four years and his contract is up at the end of the season.

But, asked if he would like to feature more for Hampshire, Pietersen told BBC Radio Solent: "Geographically, it just doesn't work. I live in Chelsea."

As a centrally-contracted England player, Pietersen's availability for county cricket is minimal.

He will be back at The Rose Bowl on 22 June, as England open their NatWest ODI series against Australia.

Asked for his thoughts ahead of the game on his 'home ground', South Africa-born Pietersen said: "It's just another one-day international at another cricket ground.

"Every time you play for England it's special."

Despite the uncertainty over his future with Hampshire, who he joined from Nottinghamshire in 2005, Pietersen said: "I've always loved coming to play here.

"They're a great bunch of lads. It's good fun."

Since leaving Trent Bridge at the end of the 2004 season, Pietersen has made just two Twenty20 appearances for Hampshire in six summers.

He has made seven County Championship appearances and played in 17 one-day games.

 He never plays for us and doesn't do anything when he does. He's a great player and I hope he doesn't go but it wouldn't be that bad

Welcome to Surrey Mr Pietersen, not that he will play much but could bring in some more fans.

Cause Surrey are ion the up and Middlesex already have a load of internationals that rarely play for them/wont do much, Strauss, Finn, Morgan, Shah (occasionally), doubt they'd want someone else. Where as Surrey have the ground, the support and are the most financially secure County all whilst being shit on the field.

Pietersen has now confirmed that he'll be leaving Hampshire.

Thanks for the memories, Kevin. Oh wait, what memories :|

Middlesex or Surrey it is then. Hopefully Middlesex, just so you have nothing to shout about, Brooker! :P

Two big matches on at the moment:

England v Australia at the Rose Bowl. Australia got 267-7 in their 50 overs. England will reply soon. England can reach that definitely.

Hampshire v Surrey in the Twenty20 too, Brooker :|coffee

Jhees, missed 2 good knocks, Symonds 63 off 33 and Davies 60 off 25.

Looks like we will get just under 200, decent score considering our previous form at home.

Edit, Nel hit a six off the last ball to bring up 200. :|coffee

Edit again, Didnt know Simon Jones played for Hampshire, bet he wished he didnt, SP Jones 4 0 53 1 13.25 .

A nice win for England indeed! The Rose Bowl looks great now too! Morgan is a great player, thanks Ireland.

1-0 England in the series then.

NZ - indeed, I hate it! :neured:
