Tippeligaen 2011 summary (so far)![]() Nine rounds of Tippeligaen 2011 are now played. The only answer we have got is that no answers are given. This has turned out to be one of the absolute closest seasons ever. 13 points separates top from bottom - only 2004 season can match that!
I've been worried about the level, but let's focus on the bright side: It's close and unpredictable! ![]() So...let's see how they have done their stuff so far, team by team: ![]() After finishing 4th for the first time, Aalesund had low expectations for 2011 after selling important keyplayers to bigger clubs abroad, but manager Kjetil Rekdal have done a very good job so far. Four homewins in a row and four points away from home - certainly not bad for the club who only ten years ago still hadn't been in the top league. The orange domination will continue in Europe as well, as Norway won an extra spot to the Europa League next season. Everything looks good in Ålesund! Not looking too bad in Bergen either, as their heroes Brann have done far better than expected. I predicted them to go down, even though I knew that an underrated Brann side is a dangerous side. In spite of doing quite well, they have lost games they should have won, so I wouldn't put too much money on them yet. Still 2/3 parts of the season left. Fredrikstad are back in Tippeligaen after a year off, and nobody doubts that their side will stay up on top. I was there in April, and the atmosphere is great. The best football town of Norway for sure! They finished 6th last year, after almost going through the league unbeaten at home. Haugesund have definitely started worse this year, but they are definitely not a clear favourite for relegation. Beating Rosenborg at Lerkendal and the trashing 5-0 at home to Molde are good arguements for a new contract with the best sides in Norway. I quite like them. After the match against Molde, a reporter asked Jostein Grindhaug (manager) what their secret tactic was. "We have no tactic! We just go out to have some fun!" he replied! ![]() It started so well for Lillestrøm, but then there was some bad games and now they beat Sarpsborg away from home. LSK gives a perfect picture of this league. 11th so far for them, even though they are the most-scoring team so far.... Ole Gunnar Solskjær's Molde have been playing offensive and nice football, just as expected. But the former Manchester United striker has not given an effect in the results yet. Like himself said after 0-5 in Haugesund in the weekend: This team won't win the league. I believe in top three for the scum, but they will need to be more established first. Odd Grenland are tired of being the almost side in Norwegian football. Now they're not anymore. Now they're not even close. Relegation battle is what we can read from their scores so far... But it's definitely not over and they have been quite unlucky, dropping important points in the end of a few games. Frode Johnsen has been surprisingly fit for a 37 year old too. ![]() I suppose the best way to sum up Rosenborg's season so far is the word crisis. At the moment, nobody does their job well in Trondheim. The fans are missing, the leaders fucks up the club, Jönsson has not managed to give a face to the team and the players can do much better than they have done so far. I expected us to lose a bit in the opener, but after we beat Vålerenga and Molde, I believed it was the beginning of a comeback. Certainly not. The train that carries the trophy will leave soon, so Rosenborg better be on the platform. The happy amateurs from Sarpsborg, though. What a start! Won four out of five games at their own grass! Øyvind Hoås is a beast up front and Matland in defence has done his work nicely! Don't you take a Blackpool then. In my predictions, I predicted Sogndal to be an entertaining side, to score a lot of goals, and to surprise. Well well, the season isn't over, but it seems like that's a miss. They have been winning some lately, so perhaps they've found the form, but they are definitely not entertaining. They win their games by keeping it clean defensive and score goals by deadballs. After nine rounds they have ONE goal from an established attack. ONE GOAL! Starting with a 0-7 at home in Telenor Arena, they must have had bad thoughts for 2011, but Stabæk have been decent. They still have a way to go to become as good as they were in the years 2006-2009, but it doesn't look too bad either. The moral is on top, cos they have turned some impossible missions lately, and the offensive football is there. I hope they keep on doing well! Knut Tørum is on the way out of Start, and his final season in Kristiansand has been typical for Start: Up and down. Nothing more to say really. The christian fans must pray to God if they want to finish top three this season... ![]() The youngsters of Strømsgodset have definitely done their job with sucsess. I underrated them a lot in my predictions, they are really really strong. Especially at home at Marienlyst, where they're still unbeaten. Ola Kamara too, he has scored in every homegame this season! Certainly a candidat for the title, Godset!! Tromsø are leaders of the league after nine rounds. Could they win their first ever leaguetitle? If so, that would be the very first team from Northern Norway to do that! They're not playing football like Barcelona, but in spite of a low budget, they have done Alfheim to one of the most feared awaygrounds of the country. Watch out, Europe! You must have believed that Viking would do better this year, but this is typical for Viking. Well, they haven't relegated since the 80's, so relegation zone is not typical for them, but they never win either. Viking is an ill club. It's a shame, but it's a fact. A head of the season, I said that Vålerenga were clear favourites for the title. I don't say that too loud anymore, but I hope they do better, I really do. I like that teams have ambitions, and especially with Martin Andresen's offensive style. Of-course, I hope we win, but I don't hope they lose. People keep laughing when they lose, but we should support Norwegian teams who have ambitions! But VIF have a long way to go... ![]() Best players so far: ![]() 1.Kim Ojo, Brann (6.33) 2.Rodolph Austin, Brann (6) 3.Anthony Ujah, Lillestrøm (6) 4.Rade Prica, Rosenborg (5.78) 5.Jørgen Horn, Stabæk (5.71) 6.Veigar Pall Gunnarson, Stabæk (5.67) 6.Frode Johnsen, Odd Grenland (5.67) 6.Nosa, Lillestrøm (5.67) 6.Raio Piroja, Fredrikstad (5.67) 6.Carl-Erik Torp, Brann (5.67) Players gets rated from 1 to 10 (10 is the best) for every game. The score is the average of points they have got. No players from Tromsø! Where is Kara? Top scorer: ![]() Anthony Ujah, Lillestrøm - 9 goals Veigar Pall Gunnarson, Stabæk - 7 goals Rade Prica, Rosenborg - 7 goals Ole Martin Årst, Start - 7 goals Sigurd Rushfeldt, Tromsø - 6 goals Thomas Sørum, Haugesund - 6 goals Frode Johnsen, Odd Grenland - 6 goals Kim Ojo, Brann - 6 goals Nosa, Lillestrøm - 6 goals Øyvind Hoås, Sarpsborg08 - 5 goals Kara, Tromsø - 4 goals Alain Junior Ollé Ollé, Stabæk - 4 goals Pape Paté Diouf, Molde - 4 goals Davy Angan, Molde - 4 goals Espen Hoff, Start - 4 goals Ola Kamara, Strømsgodset - 4 goals Top assists: ![]() Björn Bergmann Sigurdarson, Lillestrøm - 5 assists Anthony Ujah, Lillestrøm - 4 assists Thomas Drage, Tromsø - 4 assists Karim Essediri, Lillestrøm - 4 assists Erling Knudtzon, Lillestrøm - 3 assists Lars-Christopher Vilsvik, Strømsgodset - 3 assists Nikola Djurdic, Haugesund - 3 assists Jo Nymo Matland, Sarpsborg08 - 3 assists Armin Askar, Fredrikstad - 3 assists Øyvind Storflor, Strømsgodset - 3 assists Kim Ojo, Brann - 3 assists The rough ones: ![]() Number of yellow cards: Jørgen Horn, Fredrikstad (5) Khalifa Jabbie, Fredriikstad (4) Tarik Elyounoussi, Fredrikstad (4) Frode Kippe, Lillestrøm (4) Fegor Ogude, Vålerenga (4) What the hell, Fredrikstad?! And how can Elyounoussi get four yellow cards in nine games!? He is a striker! Only three players have been sent off so far. Those are: Vidar Martinsen, Fredrikstad, a proffetional foul against LSK in the 92nd minute. Even Hovland, Sogndal against Aalesund for two yellow cards. Adam Larsen, Strømsgodset's keeper after seven minutes against Start in the second round. Hopeless referee decisison. Penalties: ![]() Ole Martin Årst, Start is the topscorer in penalties, scoring three. Nikola Djurdic, Haugesund and Veigar Pall Gunnarson, Stabæk have two each. There have been scored a total 16 penalties so far. Fredrikstad, Viking and Vålerenga have not been awarded any penalties so far. Aalesund have missed both of their penalties. Peter Orry Larsen missed against Haugesund (1-0 win), while Michael Borrentes missed while Aafk beat Strømsgodset 2-1. Ola Kamara (Godset), Kim Ojo (Brann) and Ole Jørgen Halvorsen (Sogndal) have also missed. Own goals: ![]() Frode Kippe vs Molde at home. Here are the unlucky strikes so far: Trond Olsen, Rosenborg vs Lillestrøm (4-4) Espen Olsen, Sogndal vs Vålerenga (0-1) Erik Jonvik, Sarpsborg08 vs Haugesund (2-4) Pape Pate Diouf, Molde vs Haugesund (0-5) Frode Kippe, Lillestrøm vs Molde (0-3) Kim Andre Madsen, Strømsgodset vs Start (5-1) Stefan Strandberg, Vålerenga vs Stabæk (0-1) Morten Fevang, Odd Grenland vs Tromsø (1-2) When are the goals scored? ![]() Statistics clearly shows that most of the goals are in the final minutes: 0-15: 29 16-30: 31 31-HT: 37 46-60: 34 61-75: 38 76-FT: 54 Brann have got the best start, scoring five goals in the first 15 minutes. Sogndal and Viking still haven't scored in the opening minutes. Lillestrøm have scored as many as 7 in the final 15! Brann and Haugesund have one goal each in the final minutes. However, in spite of scoring much in the beginning, Brann have actually CONCEDED much in opening 15 too! Four goals so far. Odd Grenland and Tromsø still haven't let in goals in the first 15. Worse numbers in the final mins for Odd though, letting in 6. As many as Haugesund, who also scores less in the final 15. Stabæk and Molde have only conceded one goal in the final 15. |

Great report and some interesting stats as well! Everyone would've expected better from Rosenborg and Valerenga, maybe some sackings are on the way - even though I think we should give Andresen some more time. Best player in the league ATM is Nigerian, class Ojo and Ujah should be on their way in a bigger club this summer

Great review! Such an interesting start to the season. Rosenborg and Valerenga are both failing, Viking are in the relegation zone and Tromso and Godset lead! Haha, can't believe Sogndal have only scored one goal from a proper attack in open play in nine games! I was thinking about the Europa League next season earlier and thinking about the Norwegian teams in it. Valerenga, Tromso, Aalesund and Stromgodset. Can you see any getting into the group stage? I really hope they can! I can't imagine Aalesund in the group stage and on current form, Valerenga won't. I can't see Godset there either, but they seem to be doing well this season so why not! Same for Tromso! Rosenborg in the Champions League... sorry, but I can't see them in the group stage at the moment

I suppose we'll have Rosenborg in the Europa League and that's it Tromsø can put up a fight in the early rounds, but not for the big sides. Maybe if they get a lucky draw. Two teams would be great and one team in the EL + RBK in the CL would be awesome! |

Elverum 0 Follo 0 yesterday! WHAAAY! Not even the pink panters could beat us! They rolled over us in the second half, but our Finnsh keeper saved us! On top after 8 games! :O (Valdres is a point behind, though, and have two games in hand). Going to my first Adeccomatch of the year, when my local sides HamKam (West for Elverum) takes on Nybergsund (east for Elverum)! I should really post from Briskeby, that'd make Chris proud! Kamma Kamma Kamma! Pics from both Elverum-Follo and HamKam-Nybergsund to come! |

Damn, seeing Kamma was two hours wasted! In spite of doing quite well in the first half, where they totally outplayed Nybergsund, I was paying more attention to the clock in the second half. HamKam played 11 v 10 in 50 minutes without getting use of it. A header was enough for them to score and take all the points, but they had no interess in scoring more. Pfff. Would you like a review of Adeccoligaen (level 2) so far? |
