Oyoy! It's been so long since the last round that I forgot there was a new match on today! Sogndal, who is second to last, were visitors in Bergen, and the homeside won 2-0. Sogndal just can't score goals!

Guastavino scored Brann's leader goal after 76 minutes, a great solo run apparently, and former Brann keeper Kenneth Udjus had to pick the ball out of his nets. Bjarte Haugsdal added one for Brann five minutes later - with his first strike in Tippeligaen! The youngster picked up a bad goalkick from Udjus and scored icecold alone with the keeper.

Quite lucky goal number one
Quite lucky goal number two

Brann go fifth after their fifth win in ten games!

The next games are being played at Monday night, with a few derbies:

Haugesund takes on bottom placed Viking at home. A defeat to their rivals would be really bad news, Viking.
Lillestrøm - Odd at Åråsen. Quite open game that.
Molde - Start should be full of goals. 8-1 in 2009, remember!?
Stabæk - Aalesund. Tough one for the oranges.
Fredrikstad - Sarpsborg08. Two promoted sides having a great start. But who wants to lose the first ever Østfold derby in the top league for over 30 years?

The derby: Haugesund - Viking

Posted Image
Viking suffered with a 0-4 defeat here last year. A new defeat of that sort now will probably be a bad outcome for Åge Hareide...

The battle of Rogaland. Haugesund - Stavanger. Little brother - Big brother. Haugesund - Viking.

Haugesund's fanpage

The true meaning of the word "derby" is a match between teams from the same city, but since our damn country is so elongated, it's not wrong to call this a derby: A match between the best side of the area vs the small neighbour in south (Rosenborg91 edit: Viking is described as the small neigbour here :P ). Last year we sold out our awaystand quickly, and even though we didn't play in the weekend so it doesn't matter what day it is: The interess is impeccable.

FK Haugesund have always said that there is space enough for another op team in Rogaland. One that's placed between the darkblue ones in south and the red Bergen people in north. We proved that in 1997 and 1998, when our appearances gave Tippeligaen a few more derbies and rivalries. Viking are yet talking about the "Miracle in Haugesund" in 1988, when the vikings won in the overtime after one of Norwegian football's strangest referee decissions. If Alf Kåre Tveit hadn't dived there, maybe they would have gone down instead of us, and we'd be the best in the area...

Viking might still talk about a new miracle in Haugesund, but we don't need any miracles here. Because with the form we show nowadays, we have everything to win here. Maakeberget (Haugesund fans) and the rest of our fans have according to reports already put six points in their accounts before the season.

We're not scared. We're looking forward to this. At Monday night the duels will be important. We won't be stressed. We'll play our game, like we have done since the first round.

We're looking forward to prove that we're the best side in Rogaland.

Have a good match!

Viking have a good squad and a former national team manager, so it's surprising that they're doing so bad. Hareide will go soon surely.

The stadium looks terrible

By the way - Uwe Rosler is now the manager of... Brentford

Now that's a stepdown, Chris!

The derby: Fredrikstad - Sarpsborg08

Very good promotion of the derby! Especially after 35 seconds, when they show great goals from both sides. Good build-up!

At the moment, there is no top teams that are closer in geography than these two. But they are far away from good neigbours or good brothers or good friends. This is the battle of Østfold.

Only separated by a river and some bridges...

They haven't met much because they have usually been at different levels. This is actually the first time since the 70's that they meet up in the top league. However, there have been a few derbies the later seasons:

2009: Fredrikstad play Sarpsborg at home in the play-off. Younger brother S08 wins 2-0, after goals from Martin Wiig, former Fredrikstad player. FFK go down. Sarpsborg later on lose the final.
2010: First league game between the rivals in ages, and Sarpsborg win 3-0 at home! They drew 1-1 in Fredrikstad later.

What about now then? Can FFK finally get their revenge?

FUUUCK! Today we're talking match nerves!!!! I haven't had so many expectations and nerves to a match since the cupfinal in 2006. I calmed down quite quckly back then, cos Sandefjord was never close. I don't think we'll get the win that easy tonight. The scoreline at 21:45 tonight could be either fantastic, awful or status quo.

At the ground I hope and believe that the boys will dominate, and at the stands we'll show the toads who's the boss here! We'll sing them out so hard that the toads will want a new name of the club and start with low division football. We're going to KILL them!

Sarpsborg's forums have the matchthread titled: "11th round: The other town - Sarpsborg08"

It seems like a big derby in the area for sure, but the video makes it seem like:

But then I have to remember that it's just Norwegian football, and it's more a battle over this:

Posted Image

But of course, derbies can be big and small. How big is this one in Norway? Rosenborg-Molde standard? List the best derbies in Norway, Mario :neushades:

Sarpsborg are 6th and Fredrikstad are 7th - both on 13 points and both 6 points behind the leader. Both are doing well  I predicted 1-1 earlier so I'll stick with it.

Dunno what's bigger. Rosenborg-Molde in terms of level maybe, but these are closer and there's a very stronger rivalry

A few big ones, other than those three mentioned:

Lillestrøm-Vålerenga
Stabæk - Vålerenga
Brann - Viking
Viking - Bryne
Fredrikstad - Moss
Aalesund - Molde
Kristiansund - Molde
Tromsø - Bodø/Glimt
HamKam - Gjøvik/Lyn
Gjøvik - Raufoss
Elverum - Nybergsund :P

Well, ja, Milan is bigger, but for those here this is bigger. For Milan people, their derby is bigger than the Old Firm.

Football is passion :notworthy: At any level. At any place :notworthy: :notworthy:

"The national team [is] now doing well but if your club teams don't do well then your players won't get the recognition," said the man who scored the last-gasp winning goal in the 1999 UEFA Champions League final against FC Bayern München. "[If] they are just playing in the Norwegian League, their standard isn't good enough. [As] a country and a nation, we need to export players out to the bigger leagues for us as a nation to improve."

How can the clubs improve in Europe if we keep selling our keyplayers abroad?

See the video where he talks about Rosenborg

I think he means the clubs need to get into Europe to help the league and thus put the players on show, which would help them move abroad, which in turn would help the national team. Eventually if the clubs can stay in Europe, the league would get better and perhaps better talents would move to Norway - which would help the league further. Rosenborg really need to get into the group stage, and the others must do well in the Europa League - but I can't see Rosenborg doing it this year. I hope so though, of course, but in their current form, it seems unlikely

For the league itself, maybe it's good we don't. Of-course, I will always hope for the best for Rosenborg, and Norway is in deep need of scores, but I suppose neutrals will keep backing our opponents in Europe. Last year, there was a huge debate in front of RBK- FC København started by Martin Andresen. He claimed that he hoped for an early Rosenborg-exit, so that they shouldn't have £10m for "free".

Even though the clubs seemed to disagree, the other fans hoped for FC København. They don't want to see Rosenborg get that financial muscel they had for decades. Even today, after years with downhill, we have twice as much cash as the runner-up. A new Champions League season might mean that we'll keep dominating at least for another few seasons.

Personally I totally understand how fans of Lillestrøm, Start and Viking keep hoping for us not to qualify. Them all might think it's cool to see us play Real Madrid etc, but the money we get will totally give us a huge advantage and no competition on the transfer market. They won't think it's worth that we'll have £10m only to take like two points in the groupstage.

The positive thing about the money not coming in, and the financial crisis, is that local talents comes up to get a chance. Great news!

Well money wise, I can see your point, but I'm sure for the pride of Norway, Norwegians would like to see a Norwegian club do well! The teams in the Europa League need to do well in Europe for sure then - it would help them get money too (although not as much as Rosenborg in the Champions League I guess).

Haugesund leads the battle of Rogaland after an early freekick strike from Daniel Bamberg! Viking have been the best side, though, in the match lead by Tom Henning Øvrebø.

Not looking good for Start either, who went 0-3 down before half-time in Molde. All goals inside the first 24 minutes after horrible defending. P.Diouf have scored two, and Ivornian Angan one for the hometeam. Børufsen has put Start a goal back now, though.

Jonathan Parr the only goalscorer in Telenor Arena so far, where Aalesund surprisingly leads 1-0! Can they get a clean sheet away from home, for the first time this season?

Still goalless in Lillestrøm, where the visitors from Skien managed to have Simen Brenne sent off after two yellow cards in two minutes. Not having the best weeks of his career, the national team flop, who also managed to put the ball over the bar from 2 meters against Lithuania. May us never see him for Norway again.

Kamma 2-0 up in Mjøndalen, Chris!

EDIT: 2-0 FOR HAUGESUND! Oh sweet LOORD, Viking! Djurdic with the strike that literally kills Viking at the moment! Bamberg with the assist, what a night for the Brazilian!
