I will be very suprised if Huseklepp returns to Bergen and Brann when Bari relegate. You see, Brann's greatest enemy is inside the club itself. They have to challange Roar Bruun Hansen, their reserve in all administration/management positions. He's a complete mess. He can even screw up every simple task. Marius predicts![]() Tippeligaen 2011 ![]() A new start ![]() Fredrikstad had just taken their first medals since 1972. Then they relegated. Now, the new start begins. Fredrikstad are one of the most honoured teams in Norway, winning a lot of titles in the 1930's, 40's, 50's and their most recent league title from 1961. They even eliminated Ajax (4-3) in the first ever League winners cup season! But after the relegation in 1984, the season where Fredrikstad actually won the cup, it took them 20 years to come back in the top division. FFK were actually down to 2nd division (level 3) as late as in 2002. Two years later they played in Tippeligaen. The arrows pointed up after that. Saving the spot in 2004 and 2005, cup title in 2006 (3-0 against Sandefjord in the final), new stadium and European-Cup action in 2007 and then 2nd place in 2008. Fredrikstad were back. Then they collapsed. 2009 Was never going to be a new top three-season, but the fact that they were relegating was surprising. There were in fact a lot of mess in the leadership and the club was split. Suddenly they were playing play-off. But they'd win that for sure... Semifinal against rivals Sarpsborg, 0-1 down at HT, but they'd come back for sure. They didn't. Fredrikstad relegated. Now they're back, after having more sucsess in last year's play-off. Sarpsborg won the direct promotion duel, leaving FFK to the play-off battles. Trashing Løv-Ham and Hønefoss by a total 12 goals, they fully deserved the 16th and last spot. A new chance for Fredrikstad. ![]() The white and reds comes from a very patrotic town where the fans are very proud of their side. It's always a full crowd and good atmosphere in town when they are playing. Rosenborg supporter Cathrine Røsand Knutsen has been to awaygames in many parts of the country, but she claims that Fredrikstad is best. It's a core in town, when thousands of fans goes from the pubs to the stadium together, over the bridge that's decorated with red and white flags. Ready for pation. Fredrikstad's league titles: 1937-1938 1938-1939 1948-1949 1950-1951 1951-1952 1953-1954 1956-1957 1959-1960 1960-1961 On the paper, they should end last. They didn't finish top two, they had to play-offs. But I think their potential are high, and the fans will lift them to this spot. In my opinion, there are talented, but unsure cards in every spot in the team. The keeper spot is probably going to be won by Lasse Staw. Talented keeper, I remember him as a beast for Fredrikstad in the 2008 season. His debut was made already in 2004, as a 16 year old! Raio Piiroja is their piraja in the defence. Estonian hardworker. Not a friend with the ball, but he is strong and he hardly lose duels. Jørgen Horn is brought in from Viking too, where he was fired after breaking the rules twice (being an asshole in town, ending up in prison). Two keyplayers on the midfield, Amin Askar and the Costa Rican international Celso Borges. Should do well for FFK. The attack is very good, with Tarik Elyounoussi, young player with national games, back after a dissapointing stay in Herenveen. He was a beast in their silver season, and I expect him to do well now as well. Alex Valencia is decent too. ![]() Tarik Elyounoussi. By the way, the picture of the table doesn't come up (for me anyway). I had a feeling Fredrikstad would be next in your predictions. I can't believe they went from being third to relegation! Best place for an away game too? Never heard that one from you before ![]() Tarik Elyounoussi will be key for them - a decent player it seems! Keep him fit and on form and they could survive... |

Marius predicts![]() Tippeligaen 2011 ![]() Is the party over? 2010 Was the best ever season for Aalesund. Now they have to play without their topscorer and top keeper Three teams ended higher than Aalesund last season, but no-one could celebrate more. Their 4th place is historical, because it was their best ever place by the end of a season. It's obvious that they can't do that again allready in 2011 - especially not without top scorer Tor Hogne Aarøy - the two meter forward who went to Japan - and their Danish star keeper Anders Lindegaard, who left for Manchester United. Aalesund is a bottom team. They are not a good side, looking at an historic overview. Even though they have exicted for 100 years, they didn't promote to the top league before 2002. Until then, they came from the biggest town who'd never had had a Premiership team. After their first promotion, some ups and down followed. Down, up, down and up, before they finally saved the spot in 2007. Finishing second to last in 2008, but luckley for them, it only made them play play-off (since Tippeligaen was going from 14 to 16 teams). In 2009, they once again finished above the relegation zone (they also won the cup, sensationaly). Aalesund celebrating one of their goals in the cupfinal, that they won on penalties over rivals Molde in 2009. Only one season in the top fight isn't enough to kill the status. But I don't think they'll be as low as relegation battle. But I must be honest with you - I don't see who's gonna score for Aalesund. Nigerian Solomon Okoronkwo sounds like the one who'll replace Tor Hogne Aarøy. And how good is Kjell Rune Sellin? Played for Rosenborg between 2008 and last year, where he scored his first goals. Was loaned out to Kongsvinger last season, without impressing much. We'll see how good he is for a more decent side! Their goalkeepers are unknown names for me too, but I suppose they are fair. Mr.Aalesund himself Amund Skiri will be important on the midfield, as will central backs Einar Jääger and Daniel Arnefjord be. Jonathan Parr (back) had a good year last year as well. Pablo Herrera from Costa Rica, has had good seasons. Peter Orry Larsen is an exciting talent who has done well so far. A decent squad, but these players can't do better than this I'm afraid. Squad: Goalkeepers: 1.Ole Christian Rørvik 13.Sten Grytebust Defenders: 3.Edvard Skagestad 4.Jonatan Tollås 5.Ville Jalasto 14.Jonathan Parr 15.Daniel Arnefjord 16.Einar Jääger 21.Robert Sandnes 23.Fredrik Ulvestad 27.Dan Peter Ulvestad Midfielders: 2.Amund Skiri 6.Magnus Sylling Olsen 7.Jason Morrison 8.Fredrik Carlsen 10.Peter Orry Larsen 11.Pablo Herrera 17.Demar Phillips 25.Lars Fuhre 26.Sverre Økland 31.Michael Barrantes Forwards: 19.Kjell Rune Sellin 20.Didrik Fløtre 30.Solomon Okronkwo Full name: Aalesunds Fotballklubb Nickname: Tangoshirts Formed: June, 25th 1914 Located: Ålesund Homeground: Color Line stadion Capacity:10,778 2010: 4th in Tippeligaen ![]() Can't blame the fans for not being colorfull! The Manager ![]() Kjetil Rekdal One of my absolute favourites, even though he is a stoneface full of controvertials. Only 42 years of age, but still rutined. Has a long career as a footballer to look back on, scoring goals in the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cup, including the famous matchwinner penalty against Brazil, that sent Norway to the knockout stage. Refered to as "the most important kick in Norwegian history". Finished his player career as a manager, from 2000 to 2004. Retired after that, and won the league title with Vålerenga in 2005, stoping Rosenborg's row. He did great in Vålerenga, starting with relegation in 2000, but winning the cup in 2002, going from play-off victory to silver in 2004. The winning title was the top for Rekdal, who left the club in 2006, when VIF fell. After that he's been in Belgium and Germany without marking himself. Back in 2008, he came to Aalesund, in spite of his history in Molde (which is their massive rival). He came there to save the spot for the club who was currently last. He so did, before he lifted Aalesund to glory in the two later seasons. Cup title and a 4th place is great stuff for this club. Time will tell if it continues. Rekdal is great, even though many hates him because he rarely smiles (at least not in public and media). He is cold. That's why he always scored penalties. In 2003, Vålerenga faced Lillestrøm in the cup, and it went to a dramatic and long penalty shoot-out. LSK had got a player sent off, so when all their 10 players had taken a penalty, Vålerenga could choose between sending Rekdal forward again, or using their last choice, Erik Hagen. Apparently, Rekdal said this to Hagen: "It's better that I score than that you miss". In 2009, he was involved in a far more dramatic situation, at Brann stadium in Bergen. Brann had beaten Aalesund 2-1, and after the game, he was arguing with Eirik Bakke. Bakke was mad at him, because Rekdal said that one of Brann's players were diving for a penalty. During a live-TV interview, Bakke then went to Rekdal, who told him to shut up several times. Then he said the words that won't be forgotten. In front of thousands of TV watchers, he called Eirik Bakke an alcoholic. "Shut up, you alcoholic. Go home and drink" Eirik Bakke, who's formerly been judged for driving while drunk, then pulled off some players who tried to stop him and went straight up to Rekdal's face as if they were going to literally fight. Epic! A must see! A manager calling a player an alchoholic on live-TV! Epic! The first angle you see from is what we saw live. First arguing, then he says it at 00:28. Bakke's reaction is priceless. Here are five other great quotes from Rekdal: 1.I don't want to travel around Norway to be peed on. Rekdal in 2006, when Vålerenga had lost another awaygame 2.What that little girl says about us, is to me quite in different. Rekdal about Magne Hoseth. 3.Hello, it's Oslo madhouse. Rekdal answering the phone from media in 2005, quite mad for the Norwegian FA giving Vålerenga a fixture only two days before a European Cup match. 4.It was a horrible substitute Trond Fredriksen came on in a match last season, and was partly guilty for a conceded goal. Rekdal then baked him in a post-match interview! 5.The referee - he is a joke Rekdal fed up by Svein Erik Edvartsen, and claims that the Norwegian FA always gives Aalesund and other bottom teams crap referees. A colorfull team with a colorfull manager! Birthday: 6th of November 1968 (age 42) Played for: Molde (1985-88), Borrusia Mönchengladbach (1988-90), Lierse (1990-96), Rennes (1996-97), Hertha Berlin (1997-00), Vålerenga (2000-04), Norway (1987-00) Managed: Vålerenga (2001-06), Lierse (2006-07), Kaiserslautern (2007-08), Aalesund (2008-) Finally...a video Aalesund winning the cup in 2009. Penalties against their big brother rival! Must have been huge! Do I underrate Aalesund here? Will they miss Aarøy and Lindegaard that much? |

Good call on Aalesund I think - two of their great players have gone, and I can't see them repeating their recent successes. It's about time they fall back down the table Just thought - when we saw them training, we noticed a good goalkeeper. I don't think it was Lindegaard though, or was it? Maybe it's Lie - but he's not there (so obviously he's moved clubs - but to who?) I thought Kopteff was a good player when we saw him in training, but he's not there either. Haven't heard about him in ages actually so he probably quit the club ages ago Seeing them train was a good day Brown Did you really think I wouldn't mention him?

I figured out you would - somehow! Weird that you didn't mention the owngoal hero...Marius predicts ![]() Tippeligaen 2011 ![]() The village of the Flo's ![]() Remember Tore André Flo? Now the Flo family has raised a new star. Sogndal is back in the top division after an absence of six years. The little village where only 6000 people lives had a Premiership team between 2001 and 2004, before they relegated. They have to give a huge thanks to their neighbour village for that. A few miles next to Sognal, beautifully located on the westside of Norway, where great fjords and massive mountains are more known than tall buildings, is Stryn. Not much of a big place, but a place where many great sportsmen have grown up. And especially the Flo family is well known. ![]() Jostein Flo is the older one. Was a very important player in Norway's defensive team in the 1994 and 1998 WCs. Created "the Flo pass", which was a long airball from the defending line, that the tall forward headed down to some quick midfielder that scored. That was Norway. In 1998, we beat Brazil 2-1, after being 1-0 down. The turn-around started when Jostein came on... Jostein never did that well in club football, where three years in Sheffield United (84 games, 19 goals) were his highlight. He retired in Strømsgodset, where he now is in the leadership. ![]() Tore André Flo is more known. Jostein's little brother, that also played for Norway, and who also was involved in Norway's classic 2-1 win in Marseille. Tore André scored the good equalaiser in that match. Tore did well in clubfootball too. Very well. Broke through in Chelsea, where he played 149 games and scored 50 goals, including important goals against Barcelona, when Chelsea got to the semifinal stages. He later on did well for Rangers and Siena too, but has floped out in a few clubs in the later years. ![]() Two brothers, playing for the best ever Norwegian generation that did well in 1994 and 1998. ![]() Their cousin, Håvard Flo, has a good CV as well. I keep mentioning the 1998 WCs, but this is amazing. Don't you think Håvard scored one as well!? Yes, he did, in a 1-1 tie v Scotland. Håvard never got big for Norway, but he has a goal in the World Cups! Håvard has been in clubs like Werder Bremen and Wolves without getting a big name. Returned to Sogndal in 2001, where he retired in 2008. Did a comeback season in 2010, and he is now in a high possition in the club that's back in Norwegian football. In addition, they have two other brothers that have scored in the top league, Jarle and Kjell-Rune. Now, there are two new Flo generations. Ulrik and Per Egilare the new stars in the family that has raised so many great footballers. My father told me about when Sogndal played a local side in Elveurm in the beginning of the 90's. The homecrowd was shocked and amazed. NINE out of 11 players were more than 1.90 tall, bright haired and named Flo! Imagine! ![]() Predicting Sogndal 10th might be a bit optimistic. I've seen a few predictions, from big papers in Norway, and them all have predicted them to relegate. I think they'll surprise. And they have a good statistic too: Not since 2000, a team that has promoted as league winners, have relegated the next season. Can Sogndal break it by relegating or will the Flo family make them stay? There are many young and unknown names to me here, but Eirik Bakke should be a well-known name. The former Leeds player joined Sogndal after being in Brann for some seasons. Squad: Goalkeepers: 1.Nils Kenneth Udjus 12.Joseph T.Bendik Defenders: 3.Vegar Heggenes Gjermundstad 4.Even Hovland 16.Eivind Daniel Røed 17.Gustav Valsvik 20.Thomas Eriksen Ness 22.Isak Scheel 23.Espen Næss Lund Midfielders: 6.Ahyee Aye Elvis ( )8.Ulrik Flo 9.Eirik Bakke 11.Ole Jørgen Halvorsen 19.Ørjan Hopen Forwards: 2.Mats Goberg Solheim 5.Per Egil Flo 7.Henrik Luggenes Furebotn 10.Espen Olsen 14.Barry Kader 15.Joakim Rudolfsen 18.Cato Hansen Full name: Sogndal Fotball Nickname: The lemonade makers (they come from a very fruity village where they make a lot of lemonade) Formed: February 26, 1926 Located: Sogndal Homeground: Fosshaugane Campus Capacity: 5,402 2010: 1st in Adeccoligaen Fosshaugane is by the way the only stadium in the world with a section for only girls. They also don't sell drinks with sugar in Sogndal - lemonade, coffee and water only! The Manager ![]() Harald Aabrekk Rutined manager that hasn't been much in media - except for one incident. In 1995, he managed Tromsø, who was playing rivals Glimt away from home - in an important awaygame. Tromsø were 2-1 up, there was eight minutes left, and Aabrekk made an unusual move to kill time: He faked that he was fainting! Yes, he did! "It wasn't planned at all. The ball ended up at me, and instead of throwing it to the pitch, I just lay it down to make them run to it. You know, to save time. Then, a Glimt official runs into me to take the ball, and suddenly I lay at the ground" Instead of just raising up at once, he kept laying there. "I thought...I should go up now, but it's too late. I had beginned it, so I had to finish it. It was embarrassing when the ambulance men came... That still bothers me" Will we see Harald Aabrek pass out in 2011? Birthday: 22 February 1956 (age 55) Played for: Sogndal (1974-78), Brann (1978) Managed: Eid, Sandane, Stryn, Sogndal (1990-92), Norway U21 (1992-98), Tromsø (1993-95), Brann (1998-99), Norway (ass.) (1998-03), Sogndal (2002), Haugesund (2003-05), Vålerenga (2007-08) Finally...a video Fan song nicely made with a video with goals and fans pictures. A good look where you can see some skills from the team and the atmosphere. 2:08 - so nice it looks there! But can they save the spot? |

Fredrikstad: I knew I remembered Tarik Elyounoussi from somewhere, he plays for Norway eh Another gem that Morocco lost Aaleslund: Didn't know Lindegaard came from there, I probably forgot Big loss for them though, as well as losing Brown to Portland in the MLS! I know a little bit about Solomon Okoronkwo as I tracked him a few times on Career Mode in FIFA 11 (He was with Saturn Moscow then) It'll be interesting to see how he does in Norway Can't forget Rekdal either Sogndal: I found out about them last season when Barry Kader went to Amiens SC on a trial - didn't work out though. Isn't he a defender? Two Flos on the team too, I'm sure the press will be keeping a close eye on them With Bakke's experience, they should survive this year

After discussing Rosenborg a bit yesterday, it's just occurred to me how different the squad looks now! Many key players have left and you have young players stepping up to replace them or completely new players. Could take some time for them to gel together - could be an interesting season, and perhaps a more competitive one at the top for the other teams in the league! |

I don't doubt the quality we have brought in, indeed, but I think it will be hard to make a winning team out of it from day 1. Also, we concede a lot of goals. From 2-0 to 2-3 in eight minutes against Viking in Stavanger, 5-3 win against Stabæk, 4-2 v Aalesund, 1-3 v Bodø/Glimt, 0-5 v FCK, 1-4 v Shaktar.

I remember Berg though
I'm surprised to see Brann rated so lowly in your predictions
They've lost a great player in Husklepp, but surely they'll bounce back - maybe mid-table atleast
I'm liking the team reports as well, gives us more of an insight on the teams involved, keep them up

Did you really think I wouldn't mention him?

Can't forget Rekdal either
