The poor heroes
Posted Image
If results were based on budgets, Tromsø would have relegated. But I believe they will take medals - again.

Tromsø. The most northern side of the Premiership. The most northern Premiership club in the world, located in the town with the same name. Their hometown is called "the Paris of Scandinavia".

Posted Image
"Nordens Paris"

Even though Northern Norway is bigger than the south, only 1/4 part of the Norwegian population lives up north. There are not many people there, so the finance is limited. Tromsø is currently the only representative of the north, since the other big team from northern Norway - Bodø/Glimt - relegated two years ago.

Posted Image
Tromsø - Bodø/Glimt. The battle of north. An intense derby that.

So how come Tromsø do that well? 3rd place in 2008 and 2010 is far more than what we can expect from them. If you sum up all the points of the five last seasons, only Rosenborg and Stabæk can match Tromsø's score. Tromsø gets a lot out of the squad they have, without buying the names.

Tromsø is a great symbol. In the finance way. Not the way of playing. Cos playing cheap has its price. If you exclude the teams that relegated last year, no-one scored less than Tromsø! They finished top three, but only the relegated sides scored less. Then again, no-one can match the other side of the scoreline: To avoid conceding goals. They play with an extremly tight defence and they counter-attack you to death. Everyone else hates it, cos it's boring to watch, but very effective. In my opinion, they are allowed to. They can't bring in stars, so they need to play like this.

Posted Image

Rosenborg have scored one goal against Tromsø in the previous three games. Tromsø hasn't scored at all.

Home at Alfheim, they are very hard to beat. They hardly lose at home. Their artificial grass is heavy and hard, and they know how to play there. Awayfans hates that - and the travel route. Vålerenga fans usually sing "join the Finnish league" when they visit Alfheim.

Posted Image
Sigurd Rushfeldt can be historical this season.

Not only Norwegian team have tasted the northern Norwegian snow and cold climate. Did you know that Tromsø beat Chelsea 3-2 in the 1997 Cupwinner cup? (Chelsea won 7-2 in the second leg, but whatever). And in 2005, TIL eliminated Galatasaray, in order to beat Red Star Belgrade in the groupstage of the UEFA-cup. They only just lost to Basel away (4-3) as well, which could have put them in the next round. In August 2009, Athletic Bilbao needed a bad referee decission to break through Tromsø. They always represent Norway with pride, and they never fail. I reckon they can do well this year too!

*jinxed*

Even though the defence, lead by Miika Koppinen, is Tromsø's key to glory, the northern people have got an artist every team would like to sign. Serigne Modou Kara Mbodji is his name. Populary called Kara. Comes from Senegal. Tromsø claims he is worth like a billion, but I suppose he will be there till the contract goes out. Ruben Yttergård Jenssen on the midfield as well. Great player. Up front, they have the old Sigurd Rushfeldt. He only has four goals left at the moment, to reach Harald Martin Brattbakk - the all time top scorer in Tippeligaen. Could be historical moments in Tromsø this spring! He will need help from Mos, though, who is on loan from Vålerenga.

Per Mathias Høgmo
Routined manager who knows Tromsø very well. Has done well with younger Norwegian teams, as well as the ladies that won the summer Olympics in Sydney 2000. Had a year in Rosenborg as well, where he got to lead them in the Champions League groupstage. He has had several periods in Tromsø, where his best was in 2004, when Tromsø finished 4th, but lead the league for quite a long time.

Birthday: 1 December 1959 (age 51)

The famous snow match against Chelsea... Before you blame the snow: Tromsø were 2-0 up before the snow came, so stfu! :P

Ah Viking. Decent team. Jarstein in goal, Nevland up front and the experienced Hareide managing them. I can't see them winning the league, but they'll be up there.

Tromso - I'm in love with that "Nordens Paris" picture! Interesting piece about them actually, I didn't know about the money side of it. Impressive from them to do so well then! Koppinen, Reginiussen, Høgli, Yttergård Jenssen, Rushfeldt... big names - experienced side perhaps? Could do well but not champion material.

Three in a row for Rosenborg?
Posted Image
Rosenborg went unbeaten through the league in 2010. This season can be another story.

No, I'm not trying to unjinx anything here. And I'm not being effected by the fact that we lost the opener. Rosenborg's team in 2011 is just too different from what it was last season.

When Rosenborg entered the new year, they had been unbeaten for 33 games. One defeat in the last 60 games. We were defeated by Start at home in round 27 in 2009, the only match we went on to lose. Could have been 60 games unbeaten... 30 awaygames, though. That's a record. 33 unbeaten was a record as well, beating the old one from 1998, which was 32.

But now both records are broken, sooner than expected. Not that weird, if you see who we lost from last season.

Vadim Demidov and Kris Stadsgaard, our two best central defenders, went to Spain. Player of the year 2009 and 2010, Anthony Annan, an outstanding defensive midfielder who even did well in the FIFA World Cup, left for Schalke04. Top scorer Steffen Iversen went to London and Crystal Palace. We failed to get the big names to Lerkendal after that, our director is hopeless. The names we have brought in isn't bad, but not enough to cover the losses.

Into all this, we even have a new manager. And imagine that pressure, coming here to defend a title, two records, with players who hardly know each other. I can't predict Rosenborg first by name. We can win the title for sure, but I think not. Not in 2011.

I just hope Jan Jönsson, our new manager gets time to grow. We've been quite unlucky with our managers:

Posted Image
Nils Arne Eggen - a living legend in Rosenborg. But the success has its price...

After 14 years regime by Nils Arne Eggen in 2002, including 11 league titles in a row and 8 appearances in the Champions League, we had to find a replacer. The name was easy to find, as Åge Hareide wanted to come home from Brøndby in Denmark. Hareide did well in 2003. Very well. So good, that Norway snaped him.
Oh well, new hunt for a head coach. Rosenborg wanted to create a new Eggen. We were in possition to get a big name, but we chose Ola By Rise, who had NEVER been a head coach, but been assistance for years under Eggen's charge. By Rise failed to get the player's confidence and was fired after 10 months - in spite of leading us to a new title and to the CL groupstage.
Posted Image
Not trusted: Ola By Rise
RBK kept failing on the market: Instead of bringing in someone new, we chose to hire By Rise's assistant! The assistant of the assistant... Six months later, Rosenborg are mid table and Per Joar Hansen is fired.
Tromsø's current manager Per Mathias Høgmo was hired. He saves us from relegation (!) and takes us to the Champions League. Rosenborg wanted to raise back quickly, and was pressured to get results from day 1 in 2006. After meh results, the pressure got too big for Høgmo, who got ill and had to take a break.
His assistant, the unknown Knut Tørum came in charge. He did well. Eight wins in eight games. Høgmo did never come back. Tørum is now our new manager. In spite of getting the title back to Trondheim, after a quick time in Oslo, everything wasn't a dance on roses for Tørum. Rosenborg's 2007 is horrible. Only three wins away from home makes us 5th in the league. Too bad - Tørum was fired.
Trond Henriksen took over temporarily.
Meanwhile, we finally makes a good decission. We gives the fuck in creating a new Eggen - we bring in someone NEW. Erik Hamrén. What a manager. He raised Rosenborg back to what we was. Well, he failed in Europe, but with times he could have succeed there too. Unluckly, though, Hamrén was highly wanted after his job in Rosenborg. Sweden needed a new coach, and when Sven Göran said no, Hamrén was their first choice.
Rosenborg is a big club with a lot of pressure, which makes the job hard. But at the same time, we're a small club, so that when a man does well here, he'd want to climb to the next level. Erik went to Sweden, where he now manages their national side. Then we actually got Nils Arne Eggen back temporarly, while Jönsson finished his job in Stabæk.

Posted Image
Erik Hamrén. Great manager. I miss him when I see this picture! : (

Hareide and Hamrén did well, but got snaped up by others.
By Rise didn't get the confidence, Hansen failed, Høgmo got ill, Tørum failed
Add Eggen and Henriksen to the list too, and you'll have not less than eight managers during the last eight years.

Posted Image
Tørum leaving the press conference - crying - the day after Rosenborg's legendary 2-0 win over Valencia

We need to give Jönsson time. If we are supposed to do well, to get back in top 30 in Europe, we need a manager over time. 2004 is yet the last season where we both won the league and qualified for the UCL. We actually got there in 2005 and 2007, in spite of them both being shite seasons in the league. Only the awaygoal rule separated us from qualifying last season, though, but we were in fact not good enough.

An ideal season for Rosenborg is to win the league and qualify for Europe. Champions League. I doubt both things will happen this year. I consider the Champ.League as the most important thing this year. We need the millions after years with red numbers and minuses in the bank. Can we hope for a miracle? I know Norway hope we fail. They did last year. When FCK, who every Norwegian hates, beat us, they celebrated. The entire Norway did - except for in Trondheim. Norwegians are tired of Rosenborg, and they don't want us to get rich again. A qualification ticket to the groupstage will give us £10m - that's a lot in Norwegian money. That will give us a financial muscle no other team can match - like we have had for generations. £10m would probably be the start of a new golden era. I understand why people in Bergen and Lillestrøm wants us to fail.

Posted Image
New autumn. New chance. New thriller.

Jönsson is Swedish, and the Swedes will be important if Rosenborg shall do well. Daniel Örlund in goal, he has played all the games since he got to the club. Didn't let in many goals last year, but then he had much better defenders... Our two Mikael's, Lustig and Dorsin, right and left backs - great class. And Rade Prica on top. Hopefully, this is the break through season for Mushaga Bakenga as well. And we hope Markus Henriksen continues where he stoped last year. What a talent. But look at our midfield. FOUR PLAYERS! I've never seen a more weak midfield. We need back-ups. Oh dear. An injury will force us to change possitions of players etc.

Am I being too pessimistic here?

Janne has arrived! Did well in Stabæk, except for the last season. Maybe he was mentally in Trondheim already?

It will be exciting to see his style in Rosenborg. I loved the way Stabæk played when he was in charge, hopefully he can re-create that here. Erik Hamrén focused on the defensive work, Eggen loves the offensive. Hopefully, he can make some sort of combination. Seeing our squad, I guess we will score a lot of goals and let in quite a lot. Bjärsmyr, argh. Our results say so as well: We let in goals against Shaktar (4), FCK (5), Bodø/Glimt (3), Aalesund (2), Stabæk (3), Viking (3), Brann (2), Ranheim (1). No clean sheets in a while, eh.

This is where we want to be. Champions League.

"We're playing with the Bundesligaen" - trashing league leaders Dortmund 3-0 away from home - we ended up toping the group. Or what about when we beat Milan away from home, 2-1, and knocked them out - with 11 Norwegians. 2-0 At home to Real Madrid...

I want more of this! Maybe already this autumn?

I might sound very pessimistic in the text above. But it makes me look more forward to the season. In the end, it's more fun to actually get challenged for the title - not just count number of unbeaten games. Dont misunderstand, breaking records is fun, but...

Bring on 2011!

Ooooh you predicted Rosenborg second! Your right though, the squad has changed a fair bit. Reminds me of Chelsea at the start of the season - we let go of a few players and we weren't the same side and soon fell to fourth. New players need time to adapt. Jonsson needs to settle in. The whole squad needs to adapt to Jonsson's new tactics. I'll be impressed if Rosenborg win the title this season. If Rosenborg win the title with all this going on, what does it say about the rest of the teams? Are Rosenborg that far ahead that they can win the title while arguably being in transition?

Good luck in Europe, I want to see you guys in the group stage again! I might see Rosenborg again this summer, what a cool thought B)

So Valerenga are your predicted champions - Alle will be happy!

Vål'enga better in 2011?
Posted Image
Vålerenga were the runner-ups last season - can they improve that to gold?

Vålerenga - Oslo's big name nowadays. A quite charming team with a charming history. They have potential to become Norway's locomotive, but there is still a way to go.

It seemed to be a new Vålerenga era in 2004, when the club suddenly challenged Rosenborg for the title. Quite surprising, as they relegated in 2000, and only just saved the spot in 2003, the year before they were ONE GOAL from stealing the title from Rosenborg. Karma was on Enga's side the upcoming season, as Start failed in the last round to give Vålerenga the title in a nervous race where both teams kept failing. A bronze in 2006 completed the medal collection for Enga.

Being far from the title race in 2007, they needed new blood in the team. 2008 was supposed to put Vålerenga back in the race. Martin Andresen, central midfielder in Brann's sucsess team in 2007, was brought in - as manager! He was supposed to be playing, managing and leading the team as a captain, as well as being the captain for Norway! Vålerenga spent money, bought names like Kristofer Hæstad and Bengt Sæternes, and they brought in many people to Vålerenga's managing team. They bought match analyzers, training analyzers etc, so in a total they had like eight people in their managing team. Too many chefs, the experts said.

They were right.

Posted Image
Martin Andresen faced bad results in his first seasons

After a new failure in 2009, Andresen retired and chose to only lead the team from the sideline. Smart. That was the key for Vålerenga.

They were very mighty in 2010, and they did put up a fight, even after the sale of Moa to Hannover. In the beginning of October, Rosenborg and Vålerenga played a very important match in the title race. RBK were five points a head, and a win would put us eight points up with four rounds to go. An away win would put VIF massive into the race.

Vålerenga were 1-0 up, but got a man sent off. Annan was in focus for pinching a Vålerenga player's ass, without being caught. Or well, he did get caught - by the cameras. He was Norway's number one hating object after that. Rosenborg won 3-1 in the end.

Posted Image
Annan, tut tut

If Vålerenga are supposed to be a new "second team" in Norway, they really need to do something about Oslo. Because the modern people of Oslo hasn't been in Vålerenga mood the later years. That's sad, cos they really have a charming history.

They come from the east side of Oslo, the working class. Their former rivals FC Lyn (who got bankrupt two years ago) came from the nicer side, the rich people. "My father pays for my season ticket". Vålerenga is the club for the people on the ground. Teams like Lillestrøm and Stabæk always sing that all Vålerenga fans are drug takers and beggars.

Posted Image

The bohemians of Oslo are great fans, though, they create a great atmosphere wherever they go. According to Chelsea, Klanen (the clan) was the best away fans at Stamford Bridge in 1998. Most of them are nice, and you can have a beer with them etc. And then we have the casuals, that throw stuff, up for fights etc, but I think no clubs are without a piece of this culture.

Unfortunalty, the attendances have been up and down the latest years. Vålerenga playing at Ullevaal, at the wrong side of the town, might give an effect. But it's not an excuse. I remember a few years ago, there were 25.000 fans when Vålerenga faced Rosenborg. Two weeks later, there were 13.000 at home to Molde...

Vålerenga is currently planning a new stadium at their own side of the town. Hopefully that, and better results, will force people to watch Vålerenga. I swear this side could have 30.000 people going to their games. They should. And I hope so.

It's also worth a mention that Vålerenga plays with "mot rasisme" on their kits - which obviously means that they are against racism. Well done, Vålerenga!
Posted Image

A quite good squad to be honest. Several keyplayers from our 2007 team actually! Lars Hirschfeld, their Canadian keeper, is a beast. His only weak side is his field play, but he is absolutely good. Fredrik Stoor. We hate him for leaving us. Ambitionless bastard, who chose the bench in Fulham over us. I admit he is good, unless his skills disappeared on the bench. They have also brought in Yssouf Kone, who did well for us in the Champions League. He is back after a stay in the Romanian side Cluj. If Vålerenga are to do well, André Muri must be as good as he was last season. In Norway, he is called a late bloomer, since he used quite long time to get something out of his talent. Talent. That's what Mohammed Fellah and Harmeet Singh have. Great players! And Bojan Zajic - I'd love to have him in my team! Great technique, and he has scored a few nice goals.

Harmeet Singh - great talent

Adeccoeligaen 2011

Posted Image

This weekend, Adeccoligaen 2011 will be kicked off. I'm not going to update much from here, but at least give some scores now and then. Here is a small guide about the 16 teams in Norway's second highest division.

Two teams will promote, four will go directly down.

Here is what I predict:

1.Hønefoss
Natural favourites to win, in a company with a lower level than we have seen for years. Hønefoss made their Tippeligaen debut as late as in 2010, and they lost their first six games. They came back later on, and claimed the play-off spot. However, losing 8-1 to Fredrikstad said enough. To be all honest, I don't think this team is charming at all. Their main sponser is a hot dog company, they have a small arena with 4000 seats and comes from a place with no identity...

2.Bodø/Glimt
Should promote this year, in spite of hard economical times. Failed to promote in 2010 after the relegation in 2009. Ended 4th in Norway as late as in 2008. The second best team in Northern Norway. I think that part of the country deserves another spot in the top league.

Posted Image
Trond Olsen (now Rosenborg player)'s big night in 2008 - scoring three against his current team, for Bodø/Glimt to win 3-1 and finish 4th. Can Snorre's side make more glory days?

3.Bryne
A dark horse who has been a minnow in the top league for many years. Won the cup as well, back in 1987. Came close a league title in the beginning of the 1980's. Relegated in 2003, where they managed to lose all their awaygames. They have talked about promotion ever since that time, and they still are. Comes from a small place just outside Stavanger, and they are Viking's rivals.

4.Ham-Kam
Back at level 2, after an embarrassing relegation two years ago. Kamma is a weird team. They are the team in Norway who has played most semifinals of the cup without winning (7), and they have also promoted and relegated to/from the top league the most times. We must go back to 2005 to find the last season where Kamma neither promoted or relegated. Was in Tippeligaen 2008, but relegated twice. I think they are too good to relegate again, but still not good enough to come back with the big boys. I kinda hope they will, though, as it's near Elverum and it would be cool for TC Admin as well, who is a big Kamma supporter.

Posted Image
Tippeligaen 2012? Briskeby - Kamma's stadium. Make Chris happy, eh.

5.Løv-Ham
Dark horse from Bergen. Poor club, in spite of being located in the second biggest city in Norway. It's all about Brann in Bergen, eh. They managed a play-off spot last year, and I think they will do well next year too.

6.Kongsvinger
Comes from Hedmark, just like myself and Kamma. Relegated from Tippeligaen 2010 after winning the play-offs in 2009. Seems to have a tough future, with not a lot of money. Will struggle to cope with the other promotion favourites.

7.Sandefjord
The whalers were the wooden spoon "winners" in last season's Tippeliga. 7th place might actually be a bit optimistic. They only won two games and they had to sell a lot of players. Can't finish higher than this.

8.Alta
The great underdog. Alta comes from the most northern area in Norway called Finnmark. It's the biggest area, but the area with the lowest population. Pure nature. Long winters, not a climate to have a good football team. Since there hardly are people up there, they don't have much money. Finnmark has never had a team in the quarterfinals of the cup, and neither had a team in the top league. Sometime in the future, Alta will be the first team. Alta are well known to score a lot of goals, but ditto let in many. The yellow and blue ones should really survive here.

9.Hødd
Recent promoted side. Comes from a small town just outside Ålesund. They have a great history and they have actually played in the top league. Decent stadium as well. I hope they do well.

Posted Image
Høddvoll.

10.Ranheim
Hard to place them. Promoted to the second division for the first time since the 1950's in 2009. Did well, and they actually played extra-time in one of the play-off semifinals last season! I think they will fall this year, though. Can actually imagine them to go down.

11.Strømmen
Lillestrøm's rivals. Was in the top league when it started in 1963. Have had some big times, but was at level 4 as late as in 2004. I remember Elverum beating them in 2003, in the last league game. I was there, so it's weird to see Strømmen at level 2 now!

12.Asker
This is the first time they are so high in the league system this century. Located just outside Oslo. They won a hard 2nd division group last year, so they seem mighty. I think they are the last team to survive this season.

13.Randaberg
Has a high budget. Some rich uncle gave them a lot of money a few years ago, when they were down in 2nd division. They kept buying players from Viking, but always failed to promote. Until last season. This is their debut season at level 2.

14.Sandnes-Ulf
Just like Randaberg and Bryne, they come from a place near Stavanger. They survived last season, in spite of ending up in the relegation zone. This because Follo didn't have enough money to stay up. Your luck is over, 'Ulf.

15.Mjøndalen
Charming team a few kilometers off Drammen. Godset's great rivals. Well known to have a nice gang of fans, thinking of behaviour and number of fans. Also well known to play in BROWN JERSEYS. Jeez. Did you know Mjøndalen have faced teams like Bayern Münich? They even had the lead at the old Olympia stadium! Lost 6-1 or something, though. They were one of the best sides in Norway back in the 1970's.

In 2006, they only just promoted from 3rd division after beating Elverum on awaygoals after extratime. I went to both the awayleg and the homeleg. Gutted. Two years later they were at level 2. Weird.

Posted Image
Brown celebrations.

16.Nybergsund
The third team coming from my place in this division. They have been in this league for three years now, but it's definitely over now. They can't afford this anymore. But it's been great for Nybergsund. Nybergsund is a small small village with only 200 people. Many Norwegians have winterhouses in this area, and so has Michael Schumacher. The former Formula 1 champion is the reason Nybergsund is on level 2. He has given a lot of money and PR to this side. Unfortunatly, for Nybergsund's case, they have a lot of rent to pay. If they survive this year, it'll be very very very strong.

Posted Image
The center of Nybergsund!

The venues:

An incredible low standard here, but you have to remember that some of the sides comes from low populated places and they don't have much fans. So basically, they can't afford having good looking stadiums just to look good.

But I admit, it should have been better.

1.Briskeby (HamKam)- 10.200
Posted Image
Posted Image
The old main stand. As you can see, one of the goalends is still empty.

Upgraded in 2008. Earlier, it was just that old, green stand and a stand in the other end for homefans and away fans (separated, obviously). In the original plans, they were going to fill the other goal end with a new stand too, and knock down the old stand to replace it with a brand new, but what do you know: The company that was building Kamma's stadium was bankrupt during the building period! Yes, it's Norway.

To be honest, I don't think HamKam will complete this in a while, when they can't fill this one anyway. Kamma was almost bankrupt in 2009 and 2010, so they are only just surviving at the moment. But as long they don't need more, it's no need for more either

Posted Image
The old stand that's now been replaced with a modern stand. You've got to admit that Kamma's makeover has made Briskeby to a more complete stadium. Imagine - HamKam played topgames under these coniditions as late as in 2006! I remember HamKam-Rosenborg here, 8000 people around this pitch. Houndreds of away fans stood in that neighbour garden and several people sat in the trees! I loved scenes like that!

2.Komplett.no Arena (Sandefjord) - 9.000
Posted Image
A complete disaster. Who names their stadium Komplett.no? A website! Oh dear. They built this in 2007, and I must say they chose a boring design. Very A4.

3.Aspmyra (Bodø/Glimt) - 7.400
Posted Image
Posted Image
The old stand.

Acceptable stadium. Upgraded with a new stand behind the goal in 2001. The oldest homestand was built in the 70's, and the FA claims that Bodø/Glimt should knock it down and build a bigger and more modern one. Please don't! It's good enough and we need some retro stands. What I hate here, though, is that there is a building behind the other goal, which looks awful. Should have been a small stand there or something. Pft.

Posted Image
Oh God.

4.Gjemselund (Kongsvinger) - 5.202
Posted Image
Posted Image

Needs an upgrade, but Kongsvinger can't afford it, unfortunatly.

5.Bryne stadion (Bryne) - 4.000
Posted Image
Posted Image

Haha, it looks like an old English stand from the 70's. But seriously, why does it only cover one half of the sideline? :|

6.AKA Arena (Hønefoss) - 4.000
Posted Image
It's embarrassing to think about that there were 15 Tippeligaen games at this ground last year. It's not completed, though, they are supposed to finish it with stands in the empty areas. Looks so boring with those grey seats. Ah God.

7.Varden Amfi (Løv-Ham) - 3.500
Posted Image
Doesn't look too bad, that stand there. Won't be accepted for Tippeligaen, though.

8.Høddvoll (Hødd) - 3.120
Posted Image
I love this one, even though it's small and with athelete grounds (grr). Old fashioned and a decent size for such a small team!

9.Sandnes Idrettspark (Sandnes-Ulf) - 3.000
Posted Image
Another footballstadium combined with athletics. Argh. Needs binoculars then, if you're on the lower row.

10.Strømmen stadion (Strømmen) - 3.000
Posted Image
This one was good enough for the top league in 1963. Not in 2011. Fair enough for Adeccoligaen, but an upgrade wouldn't hurt.

11.Nedre Eiker (Mjøndalen) - 2.600
Posted Image
The side that plays here has been leading Bayern Münich away from home...

Loving this one, even though it's small as hell. Brown seats, and the crowd is always good here. I'm glad I've been here actually!

12.DNB Nor Arena (Ranheim) - 2.000
Posted Image
Another team that has sold their name to the bank. The stadium is a mess too. They actually completed this last year...

13.Føyka stadion (Asker) - 2.000
Posted Image
I understand that this team doesn't have a bigger place - they have only just promoted. But the rules are clear: They can play here the first season, but if they save the spot, they will have to upgrade or move. Telenor Arena for Asker in 2012?

14.Nybergsund stadion - 1.600
Posted Image
Posted Image
Not big, but hello. If everyone in this village comes to watch, they will have 8 seats each! They usually fill it up, though, since fans comes from other places around the area, such as Elverum, which is an hour away. A stadium in the middle of the woods! Not Premiership standard here!

15.Randaberg stadion - 1.033
Posted Image
Promoted team. Can't expect more yet.

16.Finnmarkshallen (Alta) - 1.000
Posted Image
Posted Image
Indoor stadium with only 1000 seats. What if Alta finally goes up to Tippeligaen? Will they have to play in Tromsø, many many miles away?

However, certain teams knows that they need to change the look and capacity of their grounds. Here are the current plans for upgrades:

Briskeby:
Posted Image
It was supposed to look like this by now. Sometime in the future it should be.

Aspmyra:
Posted Image
Posted Image
Doubt it will happen, but looking cool!

AKA Arena:
Posted Image
When it's done. Looks better then.

Høddvoll:
Posted Image
Posted Image
Nice, nice nice, if they get rid of the athletes. But a shame to see an old legendary stand being knocked down...

Mjøndalen:
Posted Image
A shame if they knock down the old one, but oh my God, if these plans goes through!

Asker:
Posted Image
Apparently, they are currently making their stand bigger

Time will tell, the league begins on Sunday!

First round:
Sandnes-Ulf - Bryne (TV match)
Asker - HamKam
Hødd - Bodø/Glimt
Kongsvinger - Mjøndalen
NIL Trysil - Alta
Randaberg - Strømmen
Ranheim - Løv-Ham
Sandefjord - Hønefoss

Valerenga are your champions! How will they cope without Moa though? They have a number of other 'big names' so they should do well (but obviously big names doesn't mean everything).

I can't remember ever seeing Ullevaal sold out for a Valerenga came actually!

Loving the team history/previews actually. I hope others are reading if they're not commenting!

Great Adecco preview. Look at some of those stadiums! :neulol:

Some news.

TORE ANDRE FLO HAS SIGNED FOR SOGNDAL

...but he might not even play! :P

He has registred as Sogndal player in case he moves home to Norway after the summer. But as he says: He might not even be fit to play.

Former Rosenborg player and TV2 expert Jahn Ivar "Mini" Jakobsen, says he shouldn't comeback and retire while he still has a good name.

Nah, I think it's cool! If he is good enough to play, then why not?

Moldskred and Goa out for the Stabæk match

Moldskred has a tiny chance to be fit, but we probably won't risk anything, though, says Rosenborg's medical manager Haakon Scwaabe.

Brann fans boycotts Lillestrøm away

Monday, LSK and Brann will be playing a top game at Åråsen. That will be without the visiting fans.

Brann Bataljonen, Brann's official supporter club, is one of the best ones in Norway both home and away, but now they choose to make a protest against the Monday game culture.

For many years, fans from all of Norway have complained about the FA selling games to TV 2, who choose to air one match every Monday, like an end to the round. Since this match is the channel's second choice, teams like Brann, Vålerenga and Lillestrøm often play at this day.

However, monday is a very bad day for awayfans. Brann fans living in Bergen needs to skip their job both Monday and Tuesday if they're going by bus or car. And a normal man can't afford plane every time they're playing away. In a country with great distances, monday games is bad news.

Lillestrøm's fans Kanarifansen, boycotted their awaygame in Haugesund last year, because of the same reason.

Ghosts at Fredrikstad stadion

Really? Or is this an early April fools? :ohdear

Apparently, a group called "Norwegian ghots hunters have said that Fredrikstad's homeground is haunted!

They slept at the stadium a night and found things that couldn't be explained. They explains how they communicate with the ghost, the temprature that suddenly changed, sounds in empty rooms and a conversation with the ghost, who apparently said "Thanks for the cup of coffee"

The leaders in Fredrikstad only laughs when they heard the news. - There's only positive atmosphere here, so there must be nice ghosts then.

Oooooh, ligue! Vieux Sané, central midfielder from Senegal, will be on a trial this week!

Who the hell is he?! :eek2: Did he come from Senegal directly? I saw something on one of the articles from google saying "RBK dropper Sane" - does that mean he's out? :|

Also, interesting stuff from the last predictions you posted! ENGA winning the league this season?! It could happen  I'm sure you don't want to jinx 'Borg though :neulol: The Annan picture  (Says alot about Rosenborg eh Marius :neured: ). Klanen are the best fans in Norway by the way - 10 times better than our rival "clan" Trolligaen :neuwine:

It's also worth a mention that Vålerenga plays with "mot rasisme" on their kits - which obviously means that they are against racism. Well done, Vålerenga!

:notworthy:

What a squad :notworthy: I forgot that they brought Kone in, what a signing B) Fellah and Singh will help us forget about Moa and lead us to glory. Don't forget Oussou and Shelton either aye, we're packed up top :neuwine: Nordvik is probably the shittiest player in squad (remember that red card last season, Marius? ). Aleksander Solli - any relation to Jan Gunnar Solli?

As for the Adecco, I see Bodo/Glimt winning and Sandefjord joining them back to the top :neushades:

He is out, indeed. But they might invite him later, cos they saw some talent there!

Annan :neuwine:

Nordvik is an unsure card, indeed. He hasn't been the same after Chris got a picture with him, eh! Yeah, the red card, was two seasons ago actually. Vålerenga were 1-0 up, and then he pushed Diouf (?) into the box, giving him a RED CARD and a penalty. HAHA! Molde won 6-3 in the end, epic match, caused by Nordvik.

:neuguitar:

Vålerenga-Aalesund to be kicked off in two hours. Some dude says that there will be about 15-16.000 there tonight. First homegame for Enga, as well as many coming from Aalesund. Another dude thinks that the rain, and the fact that it's Friday, will stop many from coming. He predicts 7-8.000!

If so, Klanen should go home and shame. There should be 10.000 at least, but I predict there will be 12.000 only, because of the Friday.

Hating the FA, for the new Friday games

Anyway, who will win? Vålerenga are BIG favourites here, can they cope with it?

Hahahaha, was reading Klanen's preview on their match against Aalesund earlier. Had to translate it for you:

Klanen

No, it's not the roadworkers, it's Stormen

When you arrive at Ullevaal at Friday night, and there is full of orange people there, don't be frustrated because the roadworkers had to work overtime tonight. What you need to blame is that the aunts from Ålesund fly around with orange wigs, orange jerseys, orange dresses and orange orange orange. I have nothing against Ålesund, but I can't stand the colour orange. And therefore they are a problem to me in this case.

At the stand, there is nothing to fear, as the people who are there comes to eat waffles and hot dogs. The few of them who actually sing stolen songs from other teams and made them even worse than they were. In addition, Stormen has, in simularity with our last opponent Hordene (Viking's fans), through the years excluded ULTRAS groups, alternative fans who doesn't look like the normal, Norwegian A4 standard. I consider the match in the stands as won by us on beforehand.

On the field we're going to meet Rekdal's boys. Rekdal will probably think he has control of us, since he managed us for some seasons. Reka's problem is that this team is quite different from the one he coached, while we have full control of him. His philosophy hasn't changed much... This season they are without Aarøy as well, so who's going to receive the air balls, is unknown. We saw how Fredrikstad easly counter-attacked the victory in the last round, and we all know that Vålerenga is quite better than Fredrikstad... Therefore, it's appropriate that Aalesund's players are dressed up like rounding buoys, eh.

Having said that, because of the late autumn night in Skien in 2005, Rekdal will always be a legend for me.

To sum up, this game should be quite easy for us, on the pitch and in the crowd. I predict 4-0 to Enga, and that is nothing to miss, so meet up at Ullevaal everyone!

By: Tormod Skogen Kristoffersen (30. march 2011 18.09)

:ohdear I loved the rounding buoys bit.

Agreed with Klanen? Is this disgusting or nice?

Like mr.Vålerenga just pointed out - 1-0 Vålerenga at HT.

Posted Image
Not so bad crowd tonight either, but mainly the lower parts. I guess there are like 11.000, there. Good for a Friday in April actually, even though there should be more there for a home premiere.

Vålerenga deserved in the lead. Aalesund has had like one dangerous shot. Fedor Ogude scored his first ever goal for Vålerenga, when he headed in a goal after a corner. They have dominated and both Fellah and Singh have been close!

In another note, Freddy dos Santos plays his Vålerenga match number 301 tonight. Respect.

What a substitution for Vålerenga!

Bojan Zajic, who put Vålerenga 2-0 up away in the first round, came on for Fellah after 60 minutes. HIS FIRST TOUCH, a nice flick from Berre, the Serbian is through. Aalesund's keeper Grytebust makes a strange move, he jumps! Zajic just sends the ball under him, and in the goal! 2-0!

That must be one of the weirdest moves I've ever seen from a goalie!

One touch - one goal for Zajic! 2-0! And Vålerenga now have the same scoreline like they had in Stavanger in the last round.

Look at that keeper, hahahahahahahha.
