I know we have a discussion where we post what stadiums we have been to etc, but we don't have a general stadium thread! Here, we can discuss upcoming stadiums, which one we like best, which ones that overrated etc.

Thought of a thread like this yesterday, when I saw the Europa League final from Aviva stadium in Dublin, a stadium I totally fell in love with when I saw it last year (on TV, ja).

What do you think of it? The guys in my flat were arguing, cos one of them said that it was odd with that small stand behind one of the goals. And that all stadiums should be "even" at both sides, to make a better atmosphere. Chris too, said that it looked stupid with "Wembley meeting a Norwegian stadium".

I agree with my other mate, though, saying it gives the stadium an identity, instead of building "Emirates stadium 2".

Opinions?

Well it might look "stupid" but I like 'different' stadiums and yeah, I wouldn't want to see an Emirates Stadium II either. It's just that the small stand there is TOO small :neulol:

I never understand why new stadiums aren't built level all the way around. Guessing its so its cheaper to expand one stand rather than all 4.

This would be a nice stadium anyway, no bias:

Emirates is definitely the most modern in the world from what I can tell.

For me the most overrated is this one:

Too big, too far from the pitch, old, crappy grandstands with no cover. Surely Barca need an upgrade.

I always liked Braga's one to be honest:

Odd  Didn't like it when I first saw it during the Euros, but it's quite cool I've got to admit.

Portugal have got some really good ones, all the top three (I'd still say that is Porto, Benfica and Sporting) have good stadiums. Especially Porto's:

Always loved the Dragao. Looking good with the roof over the short sides

To be honest I've never been that bothered about the Nou Camp either  It's big and would be amazing to be at, but I prefer the Bernabeu for example...

Barca should make reality of those plans with the 150,000 seater! B)

I'd love to see the stadiums in Germany to be honest. There are so many great and modern ones. One I really fancy is the...

Veltins Arena - the home of FC Schalke04.

Great stuff: Standing spots!

Advanced technology: They move the pitch out when there's no games, to give sun and climate to keep the quality of the grass! Impressive! Cool stands here too. I know they have the same system in Amsterdam too. Amazing!

One bad thing, though... The shadows ruins the pitch... Must be annoying for eyes to watch games when it's like that!

It's a nice stadium, yeah! I love German stadiums. Hamburg's looks nice, Dortmund's is nice and the Olympiastadion in Berlin looks great. But I love the Allianz Arena, and this thread gives me an excuse to post my pictures from it :P

So, next year's Champions League Final stadium:

Hugh's posting of Braga's stadium and the fact I went to Craven Cottage made me think of 'weird and unique' stadiums. What 'weird and unique' ones can you think of? Craven Cottage for sure since it has a cottage inside it!

Why? I just googled it and it's one of the most normal stadiums around :|
