I didn't feel anything, I don't know what the hell everyone was talking about Apparently, they felt it in New York, some people gathered in parks etc - to stay away from buildings incase there was an aftershock, but everything returned to normal soon after

Long Island (where I live) is gonna get hit dead on, should be down to a Catagory 1 by the time it hits, but so was Hurricane Gloria and that left people without power for like 12 days!! Gas Stations have like half a mile long lines now, shops are all sold out of important items for the hurricane (Water, non-perishable food, batteries etc.) But luckily we were able to buy it all before it was sold out, and we do have a generator so we won't be losing power too much at all.. We didn't board up any windows but I think we'll be fine. Come at me, Irene. |

My power's been out since like 9am, and it's 11:54 now. I'm using a generator to get my PC and fridge to work though. it wasn't as bad as I'd thought. All that hype for nothing but a Tropical Storm to hit ![]() Some trees down, no trees in my yard though. |

Damn, good luck with getting the power back aye. But as Moore says, the media did make a giant fuss over all this when it really wasn't that serious. A few places got flooded ofcourse - some coastal areas, some inland areas, power outages here and there - not widespread though. Some downed trees and power lines - not widespread either. The evacuations weren't necessary - maybe for people who lived near beaches etc, but places like the city etc didn't need all of that. It was a rain/wind event and that was that I knew the hurricane would change over to a tropical storm, the water isn't as warm up here as it is around Florida and the Carolinas. It also went over land, so it lost quite abit of its strength.
