A Little late on the thread but, Boxing lost a true great yesterday in Joe Fraizer who died from liver cancer, which he was diagnosed with in September 2011. Fraizer was a an Olympic and Undisputed World Heavyweight champion, albeit he will be remembered for the "Thriller in Manilla". Muhammad Ali fought Fraizer in the "Thriller in Manilla" and admitted that it was the toughest fight of his professional boxing career, the match had to be stopped in the 15th round. In the post-match conference Ali said "He is the greatest fighter of all times, next to me" talking about Fraizer. Upon hearing the death of "Smokin'" Joe Fraizer, Muhammad Ali said, "The world has lost a great champion. I will always remember Joe with respect and admiration. |
