Just days after the tragic terror attack in Norway, he makes small moves that the Norwegian people needs to see. He cries during the national anthem, points to the flag on his cap, and wins the race. The first ever Norwegian world champion in swimming. 2.Tour of Norway Thor Hushovd, defending world champion, rides in the yellow jersey for half of the tour in France, wins his first ever mountain stage, Edvald Boasson Hagen wins his first stages, and them both finish top two in a race. What a summer it was. Best tour for us ever! 3.Skiing WCs at home You might not care about skiing, but when 100.000 Norwegian people goes together in the woods around Oslo to support with flags against the Swedes, then the national feeling comes. I remember the WC queen Marit Bjørgen, Therese Johaug screaming after her 30 km win, and Northug's sprint against the Swedes, where he crossed the line sideways. The streets of Norway were quiet during the sprint and several of the people I watched it with, they cried! 4.Norway beats Sweden in Ice Hockey For the first time. Downhills: Norway losing in Denmark for the Euro qual.
