Anyone following it? Looking at you, Alle! ZZ too I guess?

Instant exit poll results announced already: Francois Hollande 28.4% and Nicolas Sarkozy 25.5% have advanced to the second round. Right wing Marine Le Pen actually got 20% but doesn't advance.

(Numbers according to Le Monde)

I followed it live on TV yesterday, I'm concerned about the 20% as well (18% apparently now but still). People don't know who to vote for anymore, they're getting desperate, this shows it. But I'm glad to see Hollande up top, he was my favorite since DSK pulled out, it looks like he'll go on and win it hopefully even though it's still close. He already has the backing of other candidates - Eva Joly and Jean-Luc Melenchon (who didn't want to state Hollande's name yesterday during an interview but clearly wants Sarkozy gone  ).

That's what I thought at first but some of them (I'm not sure how many :neutie: ) don't want Sarkozy from what I've heard so now it's a race for both sides to gain their vote.

I doubt the National Front peeps will go for Hollande. Going from far-right to left. They probably won't vote for either instead if they don't like Sarkozy.

Indeed indeed, I'm scared they won't either. This will probably confirm what you've said:

Quote:

Analysts increasingly believe Le Pen will call on supporters to abstain from the second round of voting. An outright call to vote for Sarkozy would be against her own interests as she has already said that she wants to be part of a new right opposition.

Polls taken on Sunday show that 60 per cent of FN voters say they will vote Sarkozy in the second round, while he needs around 80 per cent of the FN vote to win re-election. Around one third of voters for centrist candidate François Bayrou, who took nine per cent of the vote, say they prefer Sarkozy with another third saying they will opt for Hollande.

I don't know though, I still think she'll have something to say maybe - but I hope she keeps her mouth shut incase she decides on Sarko.
