Yeah, well, I think he's backing Caroline Lucas in Brighton and wants the Greens ideally, but suggests voting Labour now.

Indeed! Been waiting for this day for ages  I asked every customer at work if they're voting and only two said no. Perhaps we'll have a record voter turnout! Election fever seems to be getting to everyone.

Nope. No vote from me. Many, many reasons for this. But, I'm personally finding the whole process rediculous. So many people are getting on the hype train about voting this year. But, politics can't just be for one day, if you are in, and interested, you have to be like that for the next 5 years. A vote for a person/party, is a vote that you want that person to run your life.

Many people are indeed getting on the hype train but it's good to see so many people becoming interested. How do you know lots of these people won't stick with politics from now on? Curious what your reasons are for not voting!

EXIT POLL: Conservatives 316, Labour 239, SNP 58, Lib Dem 10, UKIP 2 and Greens 2. Would be incredible if the Conservatives actually gain on 2010. The SNP would also win 58 of 59 seats in Scotland, while the Lib Dems would lose like 47! Let's see if it ends up being right...

I think it's very unlikely, as most of the people I'm referring to, aren't the smartest; and next week are likely to be telling me something else is the biggest thing ever, like someone's haircut.

A conservative government is likely to be the best result, tbh. We've very much seen that a coalition is very unlikely to work, and I'm very, very pleased to see Lib Dem candidates losing seats, (Because they have quite literally abandoned all of their values, and gone against every single one of them since 2010.) And, after all the fuss about UKIP, they only get one seat. Shocking, really, as all you see down here is billboards of Nigel Farage.

The confusing thing to me, is that Scotland voted against an independent Scotland, and now all vote for SNP. Make up your mind, Scotland!

How is a coalition unlikely to work? It worked for 5 years!

The Conservatives have won an overall majority, something no-one predicted before yesterday. Quite a turnaround after the polls showed them neck-and-neck! In 2017 we can expect an EU in/out referendum then - something I didn't want as I'd much rather we stayed in it, but at least we'll all get to vote and put this "give us a referendum!" stuff to bed.

Really suprised how you think it worked. Nothing good came out of it.

Depends on your view! You could say it worked because it didn't fall within the five years, as many people predicted.

I couldn't vote because I was bedridden with the flu, which must of been God's way of telling me not to vote for UKIP or spoiling my ballot by being bored to fuck >.> Though I'm not surprised that UKIP didn't do anything major in terms of getting seats, but becoming the third highest voted party didn't surprise me. People were complaining about how the "first past the post" system wasn't working but yet they voted against it last year during an election reform vote; I can understand why it works though, and why people don't like it.

You're voting for someone to represent you in your local area, but in the grand scheme of things you may be voting for someone who doesn't actually represent you at all and that person gets into power. It'd be better, in my opinion, if we split the election process into two stages: first stage would be to vote who represents the local area, and the second stage would be to vote for who becomes Prime Minister. From there each party chooses who they send to be seated in the Houses of Parliament, to represent their share of the percentage from the second stage of voting; it seems a bit long-winded but I believe it can work.

Your idea doesn't make sense. We already do have people who represent you in your local area - councillors. MPs also represent you, maybe yours doesn't. Our local MP is always hosting 'surgeries' where they talk to people. They can't be down here all the time, listening to every single person... how do you expect them to serve you? They are contactable, it just depends how busy they are if they respond to you or not.

Voting for a Prime Minister wouldn't be popular here. It would be seen as becoming more American with Presidential voting. The way we do it now is fine (but not necessarily the FPTP system - think I voted for it in 2011 actually).

I suppose a rethink into the electoral system could be a good thing, I mean as much as I hate UKIP and Nigel Farage, he made a pretty valid point of UKIP having near enough 4.5 million votes and only getting one seat, whilst SNP had 1.5 million but got 56 seats.

This just doesn't feel right, many polls had this down as a neck-and-neck election, only for a landslide win for the conservatives, it leaves a bitter taste if I'm honest.

If the 2011 referendum was held now, I think many would vote for change!
