Will they leave the eurozone? Will they leave the European Union? Will Babis return soon?

Perhaps the Greek vote is on all those matters in one.

It's fine, come Sunday we'll find out. I was at Syntagma square when I saw some people who were against 'No' and were carrying some 'Yes' flags giving 'Yes' flags and signs out to homeless people who were begging for money... That made me mad, we've had a shitload of problems, I know and most Greeks do know that as well, but we were the guinea pig of the Eurozone for the last 5 years, suicide rates went up, unemployment as well... And now, just because a far-left party got the most parliament seats, the Eurozone wants to extract revenge. Don't get me wrong, our government has made several mistakes over the past 5 months, but asking for the island tax rate to rise up to 23% when Turkish islands in the Aegean or Minor East coast towns have a 6-7% tax rate and e.g Ibiza has a 3% tax rate and Italy certainly has less than 23% tax rates on their most visited places is just an act of revenge the way I see it.
Our strongest asset is our sun, our beaches and our tourism in general and it is going to be destroyed or severely damaged when the tax rate is going to climb that much. Mind you, I'd have no problem if this measure was implemented for Mykonos or Santorini, which are islands that basketball, football, tennis etc. athletes, models, actors visit. These islands are already pricey for most of us and the people who visit them wouldn't mind if the tax rate reached 50%, because simply they are too rich to care about such petty stuff. But the "2nd-class" tourist attractions must have a tax rate comparable to the other Mediterranean choices a tourist has. Pensions are, believe it or not, the main income of more than 35% of the families in Greece, so it'd be bad to introduce further cuts on them, especially since they've dropped 40% since 2010. I know that some harsh measures have to be taked in order to make sure we are going to be fiscally sound in the years to come, but for once we could start implementing cuts from top to bottom, instead of the other way, which has been the easiest to implement and the favorite choice of the previous governments and Europe.
I don't think Greeks want to beg for loans from their Eurozone partners anymore, but seeing as 88% of the previous loans were used to pay off previous loans and to refinance our banking system, it's, UNFORTUNATELY, not possible to decrease unemployment and achieve economic growth without outside help...

Again

+ measures are needed, wealthy people must be the ones to pay the price though, since the poorer classes have already paid the piper more than they could afford
+ debt restructuring is a must, if Europe wants us to achieve growth as they claim ( I feel bad about restructuring a debt we got from another country which got that money from their taxpayers, but the interest rates can make up for the losses a restructuring would bring, or at least mitigate the losses )
+ a new "Marshall" plan

- no Grexit, that'd be the worst case scenario for us, although we'd might be better off 15-20 years from now ( I wouldn't want to wager on that though )

That's all, wish I could post sooner or more, I'll try to login again soon and check this thread, I'm in the middle of my exam period, although it's not going well, seeing as I'm more interested on the breaking news than on my studies :P

PS: Many 'OXI' demonstrations across Europe... I think that if it wasn't for the fear that Podemos might win the September elections in Spain if Syriza achieves better results for the Greek people, Europe's stance would be a little bit more soft.

PS2: Bank holiday is kinda harsh, I don't have a bank account so I don't really have a problem, but I feel for all the pensioners and other people who have to wait for hours to get 60 Euros.

PS3: The propaganda from the media who were against 'OXI' reached Goebbels levels, and I'm not even kidding.

Wow, Babis. The oneline poster suddenly goes deep into your crisis, an interesting read and surely a post longer than all your posts added together from your entire period here!

Hope you're doing fine down there, even though there are hard times. Hardly any people I know heading for Greece this summer, my parents were always there 1-2 times every year.

Interesting to hear about this from someone there, and not just what the media and crazy-people here say about it.

You mean like Raymond (42) from Fredrikstad, who is interviewed in his underwear on the beach, saying he hardly got euros to buy that last beer last night, which gets a sadface case on TV?

I don't buy the "eurozone wants revenge" line. Greece has had its problems and the eurozone wants it to recover and get its money back. It would happen to other countries if they were as bad as Greece.

What I don't get is why different islands have different tax rates. Why can't it be the same throughout Greece?

Greece seems to be in so much trouble and I hope it can recover. It's sad to see people struggling!

I'm stunned that you actually posted more than five words, but I'm also stunned by the fact you don't have a bank account?

Still, I think all Norwegians on your age have an account! Thought all Greeks had as well.

What did you work with then?

So after marathon talks, they've finally reached an agreement.

The Financial Times reported that Tsipras and Merkel were about to give up at 6am and walk out, but Tusk told them "sorry, but no-one is leaving this room".

Depends on your angle I suppose! From what I'm reading, Europe is saved and a disaster has been avoided  But Greece will now suffer and Tsipras has gone against the referendum (but is stuck between his party, the people and institutions).
