It's happening right now apparently. So it's really hard to say what's what. "Prime Minister: "this is an uprising attempt from group within military, will not be allowed." #Turkey" Jets flying low. Usually used to really show shits going down and to spread out masses of people Social media has been blocked and a curfew is in effect. Apparently there's a large part of the military taking part in this to take power. No idea what's really going on. |

Tanks are in the streets. All ways in and out of cities are closed. Internet and TV-channels taken over by the military. |

Military says they have taken control, and does this to restore democracy in Turkey. Erdogan hated by everyone. Almost expect the people to support the military here. |

Lots of people have died already. Military taking power with the "democracy"-reason didn't work for Thailand, Egypt and so on. I hate Erdogan, but this isn't a clear cut good deal. |

F16s shooting down "coup"-helicopters. The situation and pictures from Turkey is horrible. |

There are so many people killed in Turkey right now it's actually insane. And this isn't ISIS or anything. This is the Turkish military against the Turkish civilians, now they've turned desperate knowing they'll all be executed if caught. Just saw a short clip of at least 20 killed people, and many more injured, just on the sidewalk on a otherwise empty street. Apparently the military just gunned people down with automatic weapons. |

The "action" seems to be over. During the day we'll hear about the results, and how Erdogan will use this to strengthen his place as head of state. And perhaps some response from the Russians, who stayed quiet during the whole thing. |

I can't believe the amount of people who died last night. Horrible to think that a failed coup attempt wasted so many lives. |

It was when it started failing the loss of lives started as well. Erdogan sent his people out in the streets to die foe him, but the people did stop the coup for themselves and the democracy Erdogan already is starting to ruin. He didn't know a coup was comming, but he knew who was behind it when it started(a guy in the US who denounced the coup). And with almost 3000 judges arrested the next day? That list was ready even before the coup, what was lacking was the excuse. Still though, glad the coup failed. |

Yeah, what's the deal with all those judges being sacked? What have they got to do with it? |
